----> what exactly is implantation bleeding??

----> how long does it last??

----> does it always occur when a woman is pregnant??

Implantation bleeding is a show of blood when the embryo attaches itself to the uterus wall.

It doesn't have to last an exact time, but usually only an hour or so.

Not all women experience it, but it can only occur when pregnant - see first answer.

Nothing else can cause actual implantation bleeding, but there could be many things which look like implantation bleeding.

"spotting" is common among women of menstrual age.

I'm guessing you're asking because you think you might be experiencing it. If you are, are you close to the time you expect your period? Are you bleeding differently than normal? Have you been stressed about the possibility of being pregnant? Are you on any birth control?

All these things can affect your bleeding, stress can make your period wonky, if you've switched or come off of, or gone onto birth control your period will change, if you're not always regular than you can start to believe you're pregnant and attribute normal cycle symptoms to pregnancy.

I didn't experience implantation bleeding so I only know what i've read about, but without knowing more of the actual details so the whole picture can be considered it's hard to anwer your questions. The more i'm on this forum the more I learn everything has to be taken in context. If you isolate a symptom it can be or not be anything you want it to.

But to anwer your specific question yes I have heard that implantation bleeding can last longer than an hour, I have read it can be mistaken for a light period, but again I have no actual experience of it.

I do think I might be experiencing it. I am scheduled to begin my period on the 12th... I ovulated on the 25th... I am not exactly bleeding... It is more like spotting of a brown/red liquid... It is not at all like my usual menstruation...I am not on birth control and have never taken it before... I have been extremely tired lately... And have had some mild lower abdominal cramping... Do you think I could be pregnant? Embarassed

I Had It.....
Hi, I had the implantation bleeding and I bled for about a day and a half but it was extremely light, to a point to where only a painty liner was needed. It's hard to tell, I at first thought that I was just having an akward period due to med's but I was pregnant and had no idea and found out afterward's from my doc. That it was implantation. Every woman is different...I hope this might have helped some.

Yes it can last more than an hour - how long will depend on the individual.
You say you are not on birth control, have you had unprotected sex?
If you haven't then pregnancy isn't really an option to consider.
