Hello. I am 49 and had a hysterectomy three years ago. The only thing I have left is my right ovary. I am experiencing......I think..........Horrible hot flashes. Can one have hot flashes with just one ovary? I am also type ii diabetic. I'm wondering if the hot flashes could be true.........Or is it just the diabetes? Thanks for any answers in advance.

If you have one ovary, you still have female hormones. You are better off with one ovary than none.If you would have had both removed, you would have gone into instant menopause, which from what i've been told is hell.It is possible to also be the diabetes.Your best bet would be to see your doctor to have your hormone and blood sugar levels checked out.The hormone levels will determine if you are going through menopause or if you are close to being done. Are you still getting periods? If you are,you are not considred done with menopause until you stop periods for at least 6 months.Good luck to you.Patty
