I can fully retract my foreskin when flacid, but it is tight when erect. I can still fully retract when erect put the tightness is irritating, I can feel the foreskin pulling, and I lose erections when doing this.

I have seen a urologist. He has given me two options. First, the use of a steroid cream called "tri-adcortyl", combined with stretching. If this does not work after 3 months, he says I should go for a circumcision.

Is the tri-adcortyl cream any good? After looking on a few forums, many people suggest using "betamethasone". Has my urologist given me the most appropriate cream? I really want this to work, as I dont want a circumcision unless I have to.

Tight foreskin
I have used tri-adcortyl cream with amazing results. It may now (2009) be off the market in some places but if anyone has the same sort of symptoms as rossb, get a similar type cream.
I got the cream after a bout of Thrush caused by a course of anti-biotics. It made my foreskin tighter than ever and red and inflamed. After using it for only a few days the Thrush disappeared and I noticed a marked improvement in 'looseness' of the skin. Occasional use since with added stretching each day has resolved the issue of a tight skin I have had for more years than I care to remember.

I was wondering if either of you could provide a little more details on your doctors\urologists... i have similar symptoms, and have been looking for a doctor who will provide an alternative viewpoint to circumcision. Every doctor\urologist I've found seems completely unaware of non-surgical options such as the steroid creme's, so I'm suspicious that this has to do with the preference of the health care provider.

I live in Los Angeles, and am on an HMO plan... any thoughts on doctors to pursue about the steroid route?
