Preps aren't necessarily even stuck up, although many are, and stereotypically, prep has come to mean someone who is popular and stuck up, originially, it just meant someone who went to a preparatory school. Prep schools were private and expensive, so it was synonomous with someone who has expensive clothes and possessions and is the envy of everyone around them. And since then its been extended to anyone popular who dresses nice and has nice things and lords it over people who don't.

We call them both preps and pucks..... Their one and the same at the high school here. (snobby girls who only go for the hockey players, if you didn't know what a puck meant, lol).

I think a "prep" is someone who is popural, cheerleader is way into themsevles dress preppy and that all the guys want them...

Yes, thats exactly what I told her(lol well not the same words, but you know hehe)... I told her that she can be a prep, without being stuck up and snobby, or even popular but they do often come in hand with eachother. But I told her that if she was going to use the term "prep" that she was in fact one too, since she gets good grades and doesnt do anything wrong, but that does not make her snobby, popular, or a fashion fanatic. But there alot of snobby preps, and most preps are, but everybody is their own person and has their own personality... And that in fact, she was also being snobby, since she didnt want to talk to this boy about buying some pigeons because he was a "prep". So once again, even in her view of being a prep, she is still a prep. Lol she got all mad and stormed off to bed.

Well around here all the preps wear "american eage outfitters" and are really stuck up, usually into some kind of sport and get good grades, they live in real nice neighborhoods too (a lot live in mine =( lol

Lol, up here in ohio we call them preps, or yuppies. I like yuppies the best though, lol

Wow..!! I just felt totally put down..!! Woho.! In my school people class me as a prep. I get along with everyone and am really nice. Im liked by everyone also.. I am also a cheerleader..(well was until I got preggy) and am not into myself at all. It was I kinda felt judged by the remarks everyone made about "preps".. Im not a bad person..Nor stuck up, into myself,... I dunno.. You guys just have to get to know them..The preps at my school..Are really cool.. People judge us without getting to know us..

Im with ya, im a prep because thats how I dress, and im the girl thats like always happy and peppy. I too am friends with just about everyone and was a cheerleader.

Snobs are just stuck up ppl.

I was trying to explain this to my sister!! Lol just because somebody is a prep, it does not mean that they are snobby. She just doesnt get it! You can be a prep without being stuck up or anything! And another thing is people dont realize people that they think are popular, arent really actually popular, if almost the whole school looks at them as a snob. Right? Your only popular if you are well liked by almost everybody. So your not a popular person, if you are well liked by only the snobby people. Lol.
