Is anyone on desogen (i hear it's also called marvelon) if so, have u noticed a decreased sex drive? I'm on it and was thinking it may be the cause for my decreased sex drive. Any comments would be appreciated! Thanx!

Oh, one more... If you take bcps while you're pregnant (but don't know you are) does it hurt the baby?

I'm not familiar with that brand, but many pills can lower your sex drive.Tell your doctor that your desire is lower than usual. You might have your pills switched. My sister was on the pill until she was 4 months preg, she did not know that she was.My niece is 10 and just fine!Patty

Hey,
i'm on marvelon (it's marvelon in canada, desogen in the us) and i'm thnking of asking my doctor to switch me for that very reason. I just never feel like it anymore! And what's the point of taking them if you're not having sex eh?
Let me know how it goes with you ok?

I tried desogen last year and within a week was an emotional wreck...I stopped taking it immediately and was weary of trying another. I am now on yasmin--and it's alright..Some slight side effects but the piece of mind it gives is worth it (:

I have to say I've felt a decrease in libido as well. Previously I was on Zovia, and I felt a huge increase in sex drive, but I couldnt stay on it because my headaches worsened.
Any other Ideas for meds that will increase sex drive rather than lower it?

Also, I have had a bit of weight gain (3 to 4 lbs.) Anyone had this?

Thanks

I Find that my sex drive has increased but I pretty much didnt have one before. What I am wondering is cause this is my first month and I just started taking the sugar pills how long till my period will come, my period had never been regular and I always only have it a couple of days wondering if it will change has anyone had a change in the cycle from this pill.

No. They don't recommend that you do so, but there hasn't been any proof that it will hurt the baby. It either prevents pregnancy altogether, or does nothing to the baby at all. Once a pregnancy has begun, it won't harm the baby. I think it's fairly common for someone to be taking birth control (perhaps incorrectly or something) while in the early stages of pregnancy- before they know they are pregnant.

I was on Desogen for a year, and it takes your sex drive away completely, the only time i really wanted to have sex was during my period when i wasn't taking the hormone pills. I am switching off of it because it has gotten way too expensive and kills your sex drive

I am on Marvelon - live in Canada and have a lower sex drive as well. I used to want it all the time and now I feel like I would rather sleep then have sex.

Here is my problem.... I have been on it for over 5 years and only had the lower sex drive for around the last two. I have also been having a HORRIBLE time losing weight - like I try really hard and the scale wont budge and I have tons of weight to lose. I also have some slight depression and find I am easily irritated.

Is it possible to gain side effects after being on it for 3 years? I was perfectly fine for the first 3 years.... I was starting to think I had a thyroid problem because a lot of my problems are side effects of that, but recent blood work shows no problems with my thyroid.
