My extremely healthy father of 60 years old has not been so healthy the past few months, and no doctor can tell him why. Now, we are hoping that maybe someone who is familiar with these symptoms will have some ideas. It started when my dad woke up with a very noticeable red eye. It didn't go away. Then, he began having double vision. This has given him dizzy spells, and nausea on occasion. He woke up in the middle of the night extremely weak, dizzy with double vision and nauseated. He took himself to the er b/c he never felt so bad in his life. They did all kinds of tests, but found nothing. Then, about 1 month later, he awoke in the night with shortness of breath, and numbness in his left arm. He thought he may be having a heartattack. He took himself to the er, and they found nothing. It is now almost 1 month later, and he still has double vision. He lost almost 20 lbs in a very small amount of time, although his appetite has increased. These are the most prominent of his symptoms. He eats healthy and has had no problems before this. Does this strike a bell for anyone? Thank you.

Thyroid?
Did they check your dad for thyroid function at the hospital? I know it sounds strange but some of those symptoms sound like they could be to do with overactivity of the thyroid... Although i'm not sure if that can happen at his age. Does he take thyroxine, is it possible he could be being over-medicated?
