I Got It
Posted: 08-30-04 11:54am

Well, I got the job today and I start tomorrow. So I guess i'll call to turn down the other offer asap. But I am worried. I'm worried b/c the position has a three month probationary period, when it is over they'll make the final decision about me keeping the job. I am not worried about getting a poor rating or anything like that, but by that time it will be december, and i'll be showing. So they could fire me b/c I am pregnant, and diguise it as something else. I am already showing, but I can hide it b/c of my frame. Let's hope i'll be able to do the same then. Well, I have to run and get some more scrubs, and call ups so i'll be back on later.

Bye ya'll

Thanks, ya'll. It is a cna position, erin. I won't be looking for a position as a medical administrative assistant until, I get certified in december. But since i'll, be just about ready to have the baby, I won't start working until march or april, maybe.

Hey, congrats! Did u tell them u were pregnant? If not I would go ahead and do it, if u dont get it, at least u know now and still have the other offer. But u need to tell them cuz if anything happens to the baby or u its liability. (im positive u already knew that) but yeah just go ahead and be honest. They may understand!

Thanks chrissy. No, I didn't tell them that i'm pregnant yet. And yea I know, that if something happens, it is basically on me. But i'm working light duty in respiratory. I say that it is light duty, b/c everyone over there is on a trache, and they don't get up unless they have somewhere to go. And since they are on traches they have to be tube feed. All I will really be doing is, taking vitals, giving bed baths, and turning. The turning of a patient every two hours could be hard, but I am going to work in pediatrics only (with the little ones). I was thinking about telling, them but I have to tell both of them, and I don't know what will happen. I guess I may tell them in a week or two,but i'll just have to see how things go. The adon, is the person that hired me, she is really nice, so I think that she will understand. But, that is a problem also, b/c a new adon may be coming on sept. 16th. We'll see.

Most all jobs have a 90 day probationary period. As long as you perform well you will be fine. If they do fire you without cause (well, that actually sucks)
at least here in pa it is perfectly legal for you to fire someone for any reason and charges cannot be pressed. Well, I mean, they can't tell you, "hey I am firing you because you are ugly" (pregnant, or just a woman, etc.) but that is just the thing. They don't have to give you a reason....It kind of stinks.

My advice though is to tell them right up front that you are pregnant. If you don't it will kind of be like lying. They may not fire you for being pregnant, but they may for not telling them. Just a suggestion.

But congrats to you!
