I am 17 year old male, and I have
something bothering me. If you go on the
beach and look around you'll see guys who
have a slight dent in their chest. My
problem is mine is as deep as my thumb is
thick, to give you an idea that's like 2/3
of an inch. I was just wondering if
anybody else out there has something like
I do. It's not effecting my breathing or
anything like that, but I have been having
chest pain, although it feels like a
pulled muscle (started a new job, a bit of
lifting involved). But can anyone else
out there share some stories with me about
themselves or others they know that have a
slightly bigger dent in their chest? I'm
just petrified of it getting worse that
will require surgery, however I talked to
a doctor who said she seen them who could
stick their entire fist in their chest
with no problems at all, didn't even
require surgery (mine isn't near that at
all). And she also told me she'd put her
farm on the line that my dent wouldn't get
worse, however I am kind of thick headed I
wanted some more opinions. Thanks a lot
everyone!!

Dear roasted,
i'd say that there is probably nobody at
this forum who has suffered the problem
you have pointed out and that's why there
have been no reply to your post. I'm a
female so it's not really an area I am
familiar with but does the dent bother you
? Does it make you feel uncomfortable
with your body ? I don't know if you have
talked to your doctor about whether there
is any type of surgery to fix the problem
or not but have they given you any options
at all ? If it doesn't cause any health
problems for you then try not to concern
yourself too much with it, everyones body
is an individual structure and no one is
the same. You didn't mention if you had a
partner, if not you will meet the lady of
your dreams one day and she will love your
chest, my husband isn't happy with his
body, he wishes he was bigger built but he
is who he is and I absolutely adore him, I
think he is gorgeous. Try to stay
positive and not focus on it too much if
possible, try to find the good things you
like about your body, no one is perfect
and everyone has at least one thing they
don't like about themselves that they
can't change. The fact that you have been
doing some labour intensive work lately is
most likely to be the cause of your chest
pain, but if it is bothering you to the
point where you just can't live with it,
see your doctor and talk about surgery
options to correct it.
Good luck,
.::suzy::.

Hi,
may not be this, but I recently saw a
special on television about a syndrome
that has your problem as one of its
symptoms. The syndrome has something to
do with a deficiency of testosterone.
You should see a doctor.

I Saw a Doctor... Posted: 10-02-03 12:40pm
I saw a doctor and he was like oh no
biggie it won't do a darn thing to ya. It
causes no health problems at all, and i've
had a girlfriend for a year and a half.
She doesn't mind it at all. And I have
seen a female with it. I was at the beach
and just like any other male i'm lookin
around at these girls and this 1 girl I
saw had one identicle to mine. The thing
it isn't like a fricken crater you know.
It's just a dent, but it's a bit deeper
than what I notice normally, a lot of guys
I know have it too but it isn't as deep,
so I feel wierd being I have one that's a
bit deeper. The one thing that helps me
be less concerned is the fact my mothers
friends son is 30 years old and he's got
one. The difference with him is he can
stick his entire fist in it and he has had
no problems. You'd think that'd be
pressing against his lungs but it wasn't
at all. I get really worked up over
nothing though, one doctor even said she'd
bet the farm on me saying it wouldn't get
worse, and if it hasn't effected anything
by now then how could it? Doctor says i'm
pretty much full grown. Despite the fact
I have like 8 doctors who think i'm stupid
for worrying about this I just wanted to
check around to see if anybody else out
there had something like this. Everyone
says it's a lot more common than I think,
so maybe even you reading this right now
has a dent like mine but you just never
thought about it. Oh well thank you for
the replies.

Well, if it is of no harm to ya, dont
worry about it. Everyone is different.
You said u have a girlfriend and that she
doesnt mind, so dont worry. The way you
have described it does not sound like a
major problem, and I am sure not many
people notice it the way you think they
might. Just be happy with what you have.

Thanks for the replies. I was just
wondering if anybody else out there had
any idea what i'm talking about, or
perhaps the same thing i'm talking about.
I noticed it on a lot of people actually,
most not as bad as me, but there's been a
few, even females i've seen that have a
dent in their chest (it was visible
through the bikini top). I was just
curious if anybody here experienced it...

Chest Dent Posted: 07-23-05 22:16pm
Hey roasted, fish and kozi.
Im 15. It sounds like I have the same
thing as you guys. Ive also noticed that
many guys have a chest dent to some
extent. It seems alomost no males I know
have a completely flat chest. Our dent
may just be a tad deeper.
I did research on this "pectus excavatum"
and it looks like we have absolutly
nothing to worry about. People with this
problem, their dents are huge. You could
easily fit your entire fist in one.
However, one problem remains: its kinda
ugly.
Thats all we have to worry about, and if
it bothers you enough, there is a surgey
to corret it. But thats up to you to
decide if you want to go that far with
it.
Good luck

I have the same thing and I am only 12
years old. I first noticed this when I
was around 10 years of age. Like the
other comment before me, it hurts when I
do a stretch in gym class and will I work
out. I think the problem is that 1 time
someone pushed my chest in with there fist
and they said that they felt the bone be
pushed even more in. I dont like going to
the beach or pool now because of this.
Peolple would call me camble soup boy and
vagaina chest and caca like that.

I know this thread is a bit old but i
thought i'd post!
I'm 15 and i've got a dent in my chest, i
was born with it. It doesn't hurt although
it has, on the odd occasion, hurt for a
split second. I went to a Doctor and he
told me that it wasn't a problem and it
will grow out but that was 3 years ago so
i don't know if he was 'fibbing'! Anyway i
do exercises everyday to try and 'pop' it
out.
My cousin also had a dent but his went,
don't ask how, it just disappeared!
Anyway just thought i'd tell ya'll!
