Ok I was told that I cant get a medical card if I still live with my parents and i'm under 18, but I know people who were 16 and got them and still lived with their parents! My first doctors appointment is monday at an adolescent health center and they deal with teen pregnancy and the doctor there will deliver your baby and continue seeing me till i'm 25 and the baby till whenever but since I cant get a medical card do you think its going to be expensive??? I turn eighteen in 4 months so I wont get any finacial support till then. Does anyone know a rough estimate on how much these appointments can be? And is there anyone who got a medical card and still lived with there parents and were under the age of 18?? I've been asking everyone and no one seems to know anything!!

If you are talking about medicaid, yea you can get it. I am not sure if they will go by your income or you parents, it all depends on where you live. I'll see, if I can get some info for you. I am not sure, how much doc appts cost, but I do know that for a normal pregnancy, the total cost of care from prenatal to delivery can be anywhere from $6,000 - $10,000. And it will be a lot more, if you have a high risk pregnancy or, you baby is premature, or something like that.

You should be able to get the medical card if you are unable to be on your parents insurance. When I was 15 I had to go onto the medical card because I was maxed out on my father's insurance. Although he made damn good money it didn't matter.
Call your local office and make an appointment. You just have to have a very short interview/fill out some paperwork and then you will know!

Yeah,i would check into getting on medicare.I was on it and lived with my mom.The government goes according to your parents income and if they are not able to provide insurance for you and baby, you should be eligible for care under medicare.Kidcareillinois is a good system for your baby, but you need care also.Make sure you talk with a social worker about your eligibility.I think you can get coverage.Good luck to you!Patty
