The other night while driving home I had a terrible pain in the back and side of my head/neck on the left side, my arm and leg got numb (my watch felt like it weighed a ton) everything felt kind of electric and out of body. I had my kids in the car so I pulled over & called 911. This lasted for maybe 5 minutes; by the time they got there I was fine. My ekg was normal, my pressure was normal, and they told me I was having an anxiety attack. I was told to follow up either at the er (which I declined) and went to the dr the next day. The dr also thought it was an anxiety attack, as I am young (36), thin, and have no medical issues (other than when i'm pg..I get lupus anticoagulant and anti nuclear antibodies causing me to miscarry). I'm not so sure i'm comfortable with their diagnosis. It was so painful and weird. I just don't know what my next step should be...Any suggestions? I do have 2 bulging discs in my neck, which they say could have pinched a nerve during all the tension but this felt painful beyond anything i've ever felt. It was like lighting hit. Thanks for your help.

It does seem odd & I am assuming that this is a first?? I would think back over the previous couple of days (or even longer re stress/anxiety) & think if i'd eaten anything or if any one or group of events could have been the base cause.

Were the kids behaving & had they been?? Anything worrying you?? Even anything you might not realize you're worried about - they're the issues that often cause bad anxiety attacks because you just have nothing on which to base an understanding of what's happening!! Were you tired or not looking forward to what you had to do the next day etc etc??

I would also regardless of what caused it suggest that something like valerian & some "you" time (a soak in the bath in peace!!) massage, facial relaxation etc would help no matter what the cause.
