Heres mackenzie's birth story:
saturday I went to my cousins graduation party(most of yall know) and I started to feel really crappy so I went home. I woke up sunday morning feel sooo much more worse than saturday, I took tylenol and everything and nothing would take my pain away. I had such bad back pain and cramping in my stomach, id get to the point were I was crying all day long and taking forever to walk to the bathroom etc. Well around midnight I got really bad to the point I was calling ryan every 30mins complaining about my pain and not being able to sleep. I took a bath and it literally felt like she was coming out so I got outa the tub. Around 2:45 I called ryan again and I was balling my eyes out because I couldnt breath and in so much pain. My moms bedroom door was closed so I didnt want to wake her up, so instead I wrote a note tellin her to check on me when she got up for work. I ended up waking her up at 3:15am and I said "mom its time" she said did ur water break? I said no but that I was in alot of pain. So we go into the hospital and they get me all situated in my bed and they say ok well we are gonna send ya home, I started balling my eyes out and my mom told them no that we are gonna wait for a doctor. We took a walk and that made us dialate another cm. So we went from 2 to 3. Then about an hour later she checked again and I was to 4. I was in so much pain so I asked about it and she said that I was experiencing really bad back labor. So finally when I reached to 5cm they gave me the epidural. They went to stick the nose oxygen thingy in my nose and I pushed it away and said I dont want that caca but they stuck it in anyways. So not to mention while gettin my epidural I was having bad contractions and having to lean forward and have the nurse smash my i.V. All messed up that was in my hand. Ryan still wasnt at the hospital yet.. After they gave me the epidural(awesome lol) they said I would feel 3more contractions and then id be numb, shoot a min after they gave me it I didnt feel the contraction I was having and I was all numb and falling asleep. By the way I didnt sleep at yet. I finally fell asleep and got 2 hours of sleep and when I woke up ryan was in the room. My mom said that when shed check on me my contractions would be soo high up there and I wouldnt move an inch(i recomend the epidural lol). Well the nurse checked me because when I woke up I felt like I had to poop. She said ok heather u are 9cm, I started to get scared but didnt care because I thought I had to poop lol(i was really drugged from the epidural). About 2mins later I said I gotta push, so she checked again and said alright heather here are ur bars put ur chin down take a deep breath and push(10cm) so I started pushin. Everytime id push the baby would move down farther and farther, the nurse was suprised how good I was doin. It didnt hurt at first but then I got to the point were she would tell me to stop but I would just keep pushin lol. Ryan was countin and tellin me to keep up the good work and he ended up countin to 20 becuase I wouldnt stop pushin lol. He kept tellin me to breath but I just kept pushin. I started to feel a burning down there and I was just screaming cause it burnt so bad and then all of a sudden (tmi) a gush of water came out and then followed her head. The water got on ryan lol!! They were tellin me to look down but I didnt wanna I just wanted to keep pushin but they said heather just look down and I did and there was mackenzie already out. I ended up having 3stitches which isnt bad at all. Ryan and my mom were so excited that they were both crying and I was still health forum lol because I kept sayin I had to poop and they wouldnt let me up. Ryan said once the shoulders came out my stomach dropped and went flat and u could see my belly button again lol. O yea the doc had to break my water for me and when he did that I thought I was peein the bed and started crying lol. She was finally born at 11:06am monday august 23rd at 7lbs 11oz and 21inches long. Smile
after experiencing 8 hours of hard back labor it was all worth it in that 40mins of pushing.
P.S. Sorry it took me awhile to get this on here im so tired and worn out and lil miss mack keeps us busy. Wink

Great story! Except for the back labor, it sounds like a pretty easy labor. And now you have little mackenzie! Congratulations heather and ryan!

Wow great labor Wink seeems so easy when people write about it, lol. But why did you feel the burning sensation if they gave u an epidural? I thought the epi numbs you from the waist down Sad does that mean im gonna feel the burning too? Lol.

I can answer that one! Before they give you the actual epidural, they give you a local anesthetic to numb your back so its not painful when the put in the epidural needle and catheter. Then after that, they insert the need into the epidural space and pull it out, but the catheter stays in there. They inject the drugs into the catheter! Then you'll start feeling numb! Does that make sense?

Oh yeah...I forgot to add that the stinging and burning come from that local anesthetic, so I think thats what shes talking about!

The word catheter is used for lots of different things, but they are all some kind of "tube". Have you ever had an .I.V.? When they give an iv they dont leave the needle in your arm, they just leave the catheter in there. The plastic catheter is around the needle....They inject it into your spine and then they pull the needle out of the catheter, and the catheter remains inside of you. Its so hard to explain without showing you!
