Well, I don't know if I told you, but last thursday I had the stint in my right kidney replaced b/c they only last about 3 months. Anyway, that was 3 days before we left for hawaii. Well, I was still in a lot of pain when sunday came, but I meant I was going to hawaii! So, we get off the plane on the island of oahu and check into our room. We take a nap, but the whole time I am having so much pain in my bladder and tailbone. So we didn't do anything the first day, and the second day jonathan took me to the doctor. He was just a doc-in-the-box and didn't really help me at all. So, we spent 2 nights in hawaii and then I had to come home b/c I was in so much pain. We got home at 830 this morning and I went straight to my doc. I told him my symptoms (pain, brown flakes in my urine [gross, I know!] and complete loss of control of my bladder [yes, I am wearing children's pull ups!]) and he admitted me to the hospital. Come to find out, when I had my stint replaced, the tumor in my bladder was dead. But it was aggravated b/c of the stint, so it started braking off. Well, that tumor just happened to be attached to my bladder as well as my colon, so my stool is leaking into my bladder. Yeah, .R.E.A.L bad. So I am at the hospital (thank god they have free wireless internet!) waiting for surgery that will probably be tomorrow. Sorry this is so long, but I just had to tell you about my wonderful Sad trip to hawaii!!

Love,
megan

ps- congrats to heather and ryan with miss mack!!!

Aww sweetheart i'm so sorry you had to come back early! But your health does come first! Complications from surgery are never fun and it makes it even worse that it ruined your vacation, but its good news that the tumor is dying. Hang in there and keep your head up! I hope the surgery goes well! You are in my thoughts and prayers!

Hey girls. Well, I got some bad news. The procedure I had was just to look at my bladder and colon to see what the docs need to actually do about it. Like a consultation! Lol! But, anyway, there is no way to save my colon (which is also the large intestine.) so, that means I will have to have a colostomy (where the colon is rerouted and comes out the abdomen into a bag.) gross, I know, and at first I said I wouldn't have it, but if I don't I will continue to get infections that may actually take time away from my life. Yeah, a nice way to say I will die. So the doc is coming tomorrow to get my decision and surgery will probably be sometime tomorrow. I know, it sucks so bad! I have been looking for a good website that explains (in lamens terms) exactly what a colostomy is. But I haven't found a good one yet. I'll keep looking and if I find one that explains it well, then I will post it. Girls, don't worry about me, I promise I will be okay. I am just a little sad right now and have a ton of questions to ask. Maybe when I get them answered I will feel better about everything. Thanks so much for your support/

love,
megan

.P.S - I .L.O.V.E having internet in the hospital!! I would be miserable if I didn't have it!!!

Hey girl! I'm sorry you are having to deal with this, but its not the end of the world! Sure, having a colostomy is a hassle and a pain, but if it gives you health its completely worth it! You are strong and are gonna pull through this. Let me know if I can help you out in anyway...You actually probably know more than I do being as you have been through so many medical procedures in the past! Keep your head high and ask those doctors tons of questions! Thats their job!

Oh, I always forget you are in alabama. What hospital are you at?

Meg,

my dad-in-law had one when he was 18 years old, and needless to say, he is about to be a grandfather. Don't worry about it affecting your life too much. I can't even tell he's got one. I forget all the time! If this is what it takes to keep you healthy, I hope you won't hesitate to get it done!

Thanks ya'll! Erin, that makes me feel a lot better! I am just looking at all the bad things right now, and not paying attention to my health. I guess I am being too selfish and need to just quit being so bitter about it all!

Love ya'll,
megan

I'm glad! That's all I wanted. Another thing I just remembered is that _his_ father had full fledged colon cancer, not just colonitis like my dad-in-law and he's about to be a great-grandfather. I don't really know anymore details about his treatment or anything, but I know he's fine!
