Has anyone heard of insulin purging, because i've been experimenting with it and want to know how dangerous it is. Another question is before someone is diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, how long do they stay without insulin and what is the approximate bloodsugar level if they have symptoms but don't know it's diabetes yet? Thanks all

"Insulin purging" means intentionally decreasing the recommended insulin dose in patients with diabetes type-1 on order to achieve weight loss. Weight lose is one of the symptoms of the diabetes. Without insulin body can't use glucose as an energy source. Blood glucose level rises and begin to be excreted trough the urine. Body begins to use fats as replacement for the glucose. This causes weight loss. Insulin purging may reduce the body weight but blood glucose level goes above the normal range which causes further consequences. I recommend you to stop experimenting with insulin purging!
Diabetes type-1 may show symptoms for last several weeks or months before it is diagnosed. Glucose values above 15 mmol/L show more serious symptoms.
