Can somebody please help with my results?
Comparisons: plain films reveal a transitional vertebra pattern; I am terming
it a partially lumbarized s1 with spina bifida occulta. I would need a chest
x-ray or thoracic spine x-ray to differentiate between hypoplastic twelfth
ribs or l1.
Technique: mri exam of the lumbar spine was performed on a signa 1.5 tesla
magnet including sagittal and axial t1 weighted spin echo and t2 weighted
fse. The axial t1 weighted images were obtained parallel to the
intervertebral disks. The axial t2 weighted images were obtained in a stacked
fashion from l3 through l5-s1.
Findings: the sagittal images reveal a normal appearance to the distal
thoracic cord and conus. No significant intramedullary vertebral
abnormality is demonstrated. There is a small schmorls node
posteroinferiorly of what I am terming l1. No significant disk pathology is
evident on the sagittal images.
The axial images are unremarkable, with no evidence of significant disk
pathology or other impact upon the spinal canal or its contents.
Generally, no hard copy films of mris/cts are generated. All images are
digitally archived and can be reproduced on hard copy films within 24 hours
upon request if needed.
