I have had a severe case of seborrhea dermatitus for many years. I have been treating this with anti-dandruff shampoos, such as nizoral. In addition, I have been using a lotion of betamethasone.

Recently my head has been itching very badly. I was advised to take hydroxyzine caps to ease the itch.

All of the above medicines do not seem to properly control the itching condition nor the little white blisters that have formed on my scalp.

Any ideas toward solution of this condition?

Seborrhea Dermatitis
Hi,

for mine I used a product called skin-e-dip, it has zinc and viatimin e it worked quite well it'a a bit greasy for the hair but they said to use olive oil to get it out after you applied it on. I got it at skin-e-care.Com on line.
I hope this helps you out.

Good luck

I've Been There...
I had just the same problem for eight years. On top of that I had acne as well so as you can imagine I looked fantastic. Whether you agree with the drug or not (and i've had experiences that sell it to me both ways) but roaccutane did a fantastic job on both. Using roaccutane to treat seborrhea dermatitis is not that common but it works the same priniciple. If you go over to pudmed http://www.Ncbi.Nlm.Nih.Gov/entrez/query.F cgi you'll find plenty of research relating to this as a treatment option. My acne proved quite a tough nut to crack but the reddness in my face was gone within five weeks. I no longer need to stock up on nizoral either. See ya dermo talk it over with em.

Scalp Condition
I seem to have something very similar, monica. 8 years ago I had razor bumps on the back of my head and it just develped over time. Now my scalp has a lot of scabbing and crust that seems impossible to deal with. I've been treated twice. About 4 or 5 years ago I was given a steroid injection and given antibiotics to take. This really worked and it was almost gone I thought. But it came back when I got off the pills. Just this year I had the same treatment and it worked for a little while but it always comes back with a vengeance. So now I find myself with this itchy, bumpy, scabby, vagina scalp and I can hardly leave it alone. Once it starts to heal the irritation is out of control. Then I might end up breaking the skin again or even too much water pressure in the shower. It's very difficult to deal with this. I won't use anymore antibiotics because I think that's not going to help anymore. I hope I can beat this. The scalp condition has run in my family but mine is by far the worst. I really don't think I have razor bumps anymore.

Re: Scalp Condition
Well see im glad im not alone but still yes it's very hard im the type that has a lot of stuff to do I work at a very nice place ! I dress up and I am very worried that it might come on to my head does that happend? Because it has gotten very wide but I noticed it stops at the hair line but it will still be bad if it cover the whole scalp right now its almost half of my scalp! I can't tie my hair up tight ! Because then people can see! It kind of made my hair very dry! I have no clue what to do anymore the stuff docters give me works for less then a day! Well hopefulley it son't get worst!

Hi monica. I don't think it will go to your face because it's mainly a scalp thing, I think. Because the skin on your face is just so different from your scalp. And also the problem is related to your hair coming in and complicating things. Unless you have hair growing all over your face I think your face will do just fine. Good luck, I guess i'm not the only one. I hope you can find something that works for you real soon.

Scalp Condition
Hi everyone,
i also have something similar but I thought it was a skin fungus... Those are very hard to treat.
I have brought it under control with aloe vera shampoo... It is not spreading since i've been using the shampoo and also seems to be less itchy. Aloe vera is soothing and regenerates skin cells.
Look for natural alternatives as the harsh ones often end up irritating us more in the end.

Let me know how this works for you guys.

That's awesome advice alicia thanks for the post. I can't believe I forgot to mention aloe. Maybe it's because I haven't really used it, but my father was trying to get me to use more natural solutions also. Even if you have an aloe plant and you cut it you can use the aloe from in there(supposedly). I am going to go and look for some better shampoo also along the lines of what you mentioned. Thanks again for the tip, i'm gonna go get some today.
