Q: to Many Days On Period!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been on my period for 60 days now. I have gone previously up to 85 days but this time it is so much heavier and more uncomfortable. I have been to the doctor previously many times and they all have told me that it is caused from me being over weight? Now I understand the over weight is an issue but should it play that much of a factor in cuasing me to go soooo many days? My period is extremely heavy and lots and lots of big clots. My questions is, is there anything else that may be going on or any way I can stop it ? I just need to know how to deal with this all cause it is really mentally wearing..

Well geesh, I do think I would go to another doctor.. It is sooo not good for you to bleed that much. Did they check you for anemia do you know ? If not, then I would definately seek another doctor.

Yipes!
Oh my goodness, going that long is not really normal unless you've had a baby and even then that's pretty long. My physician told me if I ever passed blood clots to go to the er or gyn because there could be something seriously wrong. And I agree that you ought to be checked for anemia. You should seek another doctor, perferably a gyn asap. I can only imagine how you must feel. Please keep us updated, and I hope you can get it taken care of soon.

Yes,i would see another doc too!You are at risk for anemia and other problems.I have never heard of a heavy period caused by being overweight.85 days!!I would have lost it by now.You need a new doc,a gyn who specializes in problem periods.(ask your ins co for a listing of specialty providers)good luck to you!Patty

My period stayed on for an entire month and didn't come back until four months later. I went to the doctor and he told me it was perfectly normal. I suggest that you go to the doctor and get a professional opinion.

Sounds Like Fibroids, you Can Get Dangerously Anemic!
Hey,i think the doctor who told you that was out of his mind! He should of ordered a pelvic exam, and ultrasound. I and my sister, too.Have had this happen to us,and it was fibroids. They make you bleed heavily, and even pass blood clots. You could get very anemic,so consult your doctor,or better yet,go to emergency room,if you cant get your doctor to listen. :d

There are several conditions that can cause such heavy bleeding. Adenomyosis can cause heavy non-stop periods with heavy clots, as can fibroids and polyps. A hormonal imbalance (thyroid or ovarian) can also create strange cycles (though they usually stop) - being overweight can extend periods because fat creates estrogen. There are also some bleeding disorders like von willebrand's disease that can manifest themselves with neverending periods.

Extended bleeding is a horrible drain on your energy and your circulatory system. Find a new gynecologist. There are lots of very simple procedures and hormone therapies or drugs that can help you. If you're overweight without a general cause (inactivity and eating too much) can indicate much more serious conditions, including thyroid or pancreatic imbalances.

Don't let it go on untreated - my sister ended up with an emergency hysterectomy at 34 - she was bleeding to death from adenomyosis. She's doing fine now, but i'm sure she would have liked a few more options if given the chance.

Take care.

I Would Definitely Go to Another Doctor
I am overweight and barely have periods. I don't think that has anything to do with it. Please seek the advice of another physician.

I dont know if this will help but my sister was having the exact same problem, they kepy saying it was cause she was overweight and then she did a bunch of research and found out she might have polycystic ovaries syndrom, or .P.C.O.S. She had them run a bunch of tests ( because they wouldnt listen to her either) and found out she was right. Apparenly .P.C.O.S. Makes you gain weight, she gained about 70 lbs in ayear, but then the weight makes itharder to get under control. It doesnt mean you have a bunch of cysts all over your ovaries, but you could.Anyway they wanted to put her on synthetic progesterone, but she opted for an over the counter lower dose progesterone cream that wont really screw your hormones like the synthetic crap. It seemed to help, now instead of bleeding for like 3 months she'll bleed for like 2 weks and get 2 weeks off, which is better than nothing...So hope that might of helped. It might be worth checking into some .P.C.O.S. Sites just to see if you match the recipe...Good luck , and be firm with the doctors...Theyre there to listen to yuo sometimes they need to be reminded of them, youre paying them to help you. Not to blow you off!!

Go see another doc. I once had very heavy bleeding for weeks at a time and it was cuz I was on steriod inhalers for my asthma. The docs kept saying it wasn't that cuz that was rare, but every time I went off of them I stopped bleeding.

I have spent six months of bleeding and it could be endometriosis or an ovarian cycts. I have had heavey bleeding since I was 12 and that is when I was diagnosed with endometriosis I would get another opinion.
