I asked this before...But the topic got on the second page before I could check it and it wouldnt let me in the second page so I never got to read it.

I've decided that I am going to have chris sign over his parental rights...But i'm not sure how to do it. Where do I go to get the paperwork? And can I get this done before nathaniel is born or do I have to wait?

Lol - just so I clarify cuz the last time someone asked this it became a huge fight, lol. But, chris has already agreed to sign them over....I just need to know where to go or who to talk to accomplish this.

Thanks so much

I think you can do it b4 the baby is born and I would call a child support agency and ask them cuz i'm not to sure but I think the attorney general has to do some kinda paperwork and they have a contact for u.

Im not sure, but iwould just liike to say.. Seriously think this over.. From what uve said, this guy must not be a complete jerk or loser because u said hes still one of ur best friends..Even if he wouldnt be the best of the best, u might be surprised.. Plus.. Im sure your child would probably want the father in his life if possible. The father of my baby was a complete.. And I mean complete problem my whole pregnancy, asked me to fall down the stairs to kill the baby, get an abortion. . He was horrible. .But now, surprisingly, he visits garret and is good with him.. I mean u have to think of what ur kid will want. I would want to know my father for sure. But I dont want to lecture, its just u made it sound like hes not a horrible guy..And if hes not, he should try and be a father. Is he willing to sign over his rights? Because he does have a choice there too.

He dosent really have a choice, cuz I could send him to jail for statuory rape if I wanted. But he wants to. And he is deffinately not a father figure. I dont want my son looking up to him becuz he is not a good person anymore. I'm trying to think of whats best for nathaniel. Not me, I dont even care about me anymore as long as nathaniel is okay. If nathaniel wants to see his father later, then thats deffinately fine and I am sure chris will be around. But not as a father while he is young and impressionable.

Michelle, I must say I agree with what you are doing. Him signing over his rights doesn't mean he's not the father and it doesn't mean he can't come back into nathaniel's life if he straightens up and if you or nathaniel give him permission to. It protects you from him, but doesn't rule him out of nathaniel's life altogether! It just gives you the power to decide when and where. I think it's a safe and smart move.
