About 1 year ago I had pain under the left rib cage, close to esternon. At first I thought I had ripped a muscle. From that point every time I drank water it felt cold on that specific spot, between esophagus and stomach.
It got worst, now is painfull, it feels discomfort when I eat. Last tuesday I came back from work and I start having a burning sensation fever on arms and chest and pain between the esophagus and stomach. I started taking antibiotic on thursday night and as of tonight I still have the discomfort on the upper abdomen. Anyone has a suggestion on what this is?Thank you for any reply.

What is the reason for the antibiotic? Did you have tests done to show it might be an infection? I would get to a gastroenterologist.. They might do an ultrasound or some tests to make sure you don't have any strange growths or a hernia...

thank you for replying. I took the antibiotic because I told the doctor that probably was something that I ate and triggered the sudden fever. You just hit the jack pot, my next step is to see a gastroenterologist. I'm going more for a hernia. For what I have been reading is called hiatal hernia. The first time when it happened was like 2 years ago, I was working out at the gym, since then it has been painful ,it comes strong when I apply a lot of strenght with the upper abdomen.Doctors never pay attention to your sympthoms.
Thank you wakkochic17.

It definitely sounds like a hiatal hernia then.. My father has that, but his only bothers him now and then so he's never had anything done other than going to the doctor and being diagnosed with it. I hear though that the surgery to fix it, if you elect it, is pretty simple as far as fixing a hernia is concerned. Thankfully we live in the age of orthoscopic surgery! Good luck.
