How quick does it happen after having sex; couple of days , 24 hours or hours. Trying to pin point what happen if you understand what I am trying to find out.

Also, if your partner has an infection, would you also get an infection if you have sex after they know there is an infection?

Anytime you introduce bateria into your vagina or surrounding areas, you take the chance on getting an infection. Hygiene plays a big part in keeping away harmful bacteria. Not drinking enough water, drinking too many sodas, etc. Can also cause bladder problems, especially if you are prone to get them, and some people just get bladder infections more often than other people. I had a friend who got them constantly. She was always sick with them. I didn't get one until I had my son by c-section and they catherized me during surgery. I'd never had one in my life. Now I get them if I don't drink enough water or drink too many cokes. Also depends alot on your imune system (how well you fight off infections). Believe me, you know when you get one too. It isn't fun. Talk to your doctor about it. Taking antioxidant vitamins to help boost your imune system also might help alone with drinking lots and lots of water.

You all seem to know what you are talking about so I figured I would ask. How do you know when you have a bladder infection? I have something wrong right now, but i'm not sure exactly what it is. For some reason I am starting to fill like I have to urinate all hte time, but when I go to the restroom, I don't have to go. It also burns a little when I do use the restroom. Any suggestions???? Question Question please help me try to figure this out! Question

Sounds like a urinary track infection (uti). The only thing that will take that away is antibiotics, because it originates with bacteria. Drink gallons of water and a ton of cranberry juice, and see your doc for some meds.

Yes, sex can cause bladder infections. If you are really prone to them (as I am) no matter how much you "clean" yourself after sex it doesn't matter. Some women are "closer together" down there and bacteria gets so easily pushed into the wrong places.
You do need to drink lots of water. Drink cranberry juice or orange juice, but not too much. Too much cranberry or orange juice can actually make the infection worse. Stay away from caffeine. Don't take bubble baths, or baths for that matter, and don't wear underwear with dyed cotton right at the crotch. Those are some tips I have picked up over the years.

To the above post, during different times a woman's cycle their system can get off balance. So, if you get a uti or uti like symptoms at a specific time each month but then it goes away, I would not worry about it. At that time of your cycle your body's balance may just be off.

My friend got a blatter infection from having sex. Her doctor told her after her bladder infection got cleared up, she had to get meds it was pretty bad, to drink lots of water and to go to pee after sex. It worked for her she hasn't had a infection since.

Yes, I forgot about that. Peeing right after sex does help some people. I always have to pee right after sex anyway, but it doesn't help me. Sighs.

Only older people are supposed to have that I thought, but im 18. It started after we started having sex. I get these pains before I go pee and they hurt even more worse after. It hurts so bad!! The pains dont go away until an hour later about. Then really thick white stuff comes out. Does any body know whats wrong with me?

hi! Um, just wanted to let you know that my "tongue" has gotten bigger since I started having sex...And it is always swollen after sex too.

different issue: for the first time, my bf came inside of me earlier this week, and now I have a urinary trach infection...So it is very feasable for you to have a bladder infection bc of sex....This is my 2nd uti, and both since I started having sex four months ago......

What you are referring to as the tounge is really your clitoris. Sexual activity does make it larger, during sex it will swell.

Vaginal sex as well as oral sex can cause bladder infections. Make sure that you urinate after sex and drink lots of water, if you have an ongoing problem with burning while urinating, then you should see a doctor.

Take care,
me

yes hun you definatly do have a uti (urinary tract infection) i know this because i have had the same thing and had the same symptoms as you, you can try to get rid of it yourself by drinking plenty of water or cranberry juice but if it is still there you will need to go to the doctors for antibiotics..jenny
