Early Period Due to Skipped Pill, Help!!! Posted: 08-19-04 15:49pm
I lost a light blue ortho tri-cyclene pill
down the sink and took the next day's.
Well, the next day I forgot to take one .
. . And didn't realize I had forgotten a
day till the end of the week. The next
week, dark blue, I got my period and it
was the heaviest that i've had since I
started on the pill 4 months ago. I have
never spotted before or had adverse
symptoms. Should I get a higher dosage
and switch pills, or is this early period
cause I skipped a pill and if I don't skip
another i'll be fine? Thanks!

I think it's just because you missed the
pill. Back when the pill first came out
there were higher doses of estrogen in
them so if you missed a pill it wouldn't
matter. But now there are low dose pills
which means that if you miss just one
pill, you can have side effects because of
it. There no longer is that leeway. But
i'd say byu your next cycle, you'll be
fine again.

This happens. If I miss a pill and say
forget until 2 days later, I will get a
light period...But I continue to take the
pills and it will go away again and you'll
get your regular period as you should.
Spotting when this occurs is also natural.
