I've been on ortho tri cyclen lo now, just about a week into the thrid cycle. So far, it hasn't cause major problems bleeding wise but my periods range from a week to a week and a half. Just a week I wouldn't mind but the half part I do. Do you think I should wait three full months or just try to get a new pill to test now, and start that at the end of this cycle? Could that much change in my period happen between now and then?

I would give it awhile. Low estrogen pills have a harder time regulating your period then regular ones do, but it should even out and shorten in another month or two. They say it can take up to 6 months for your body to normal itself on those pills. If you start on another pill you are just starting from scratch again.

Thank you! Thank you so much, I wish I would have remembered things like that. Ok, i'll give it a few more monts to regulate and see what happens. It seems to just be lightening up now. (8 days into it) thanks again!

Birth control pills take three months to regulate your system. If you are having that long of periods then you probably need a pill with higher estrogen.

Ok, thanks you! After much thought I made an appointment to get my perscription changed. It's not 10 days long and I know it won't be halting soon so i'm just going to get one with higher estrogen. My intuition tells me I should. Now I just have to hope the nurse at planned parenthood isn't mad at me for getting a refill and then asking to have it changed. Sad

Ah, if she's mad, she will get over it. Yes, I definately think you need one with a higher estrogen level.
