Newly Pregannt Two Questions... Any Help?
Posted: 08-18-04 08:00am

Hello there i'm 18 years old and 10 weeks pregnant... I have a good doctor and all the whole nine yards... Ive gotten "doctor responses" but heres my two questions...

1) I dont sleep at all I mean like at all... Its 5:56 am right now andi'm wide awake during the day i'll be exausted but naw only fall asleep for 30 minutes.... I heard if I dont sleep the baby doesnt sleep... Should I be worried...?

2) I got disagnosed with a small case of cervical cancer but in this form they dont begin biaopsis (sp?) until 6 month afterwards which will be in jan (i'll be 7 mo. Preg.) and they said it can cause miscarriage... I'm freaked... I already am in love with my child at 10 weeks! Anyone ever been in this situation...?

Have you talked to your doctor about this, I have been pregnant 3 times, and with each and everyone, as I got further along I found it more difficult to sleep, at the end I got at the most 4 or 5 hours a night. Alot of women experience that, but if you are worried talk to you doctor about it he/she could maybe prescribe something to you, or give some helpful advice about your conditon.
Good luck!

Hi jessamyn, i'm erin. I'm 21 weeks pregnant with my first child and i'm having difficulty sleeping too. I lay down at about 10pm, fall asleep at about 2 am, sleep lightly, waking up often until the sun comes up, and then sleep very very hard for an hour or so until its time to get up. I don't have any experience with cervical cancer, so I can't comment on that portion of your problem.

Hi there,
I know what you are going through. I have had four children, and with everyone I could not sleep the first three months! After the three month mark, my husband couldn't get me out of bed-ha! Just give it a little time you may do the same thing, and if so you are almost there.
As for the cancer thing, you need to really ask a lot of questions at your doctor visits, if they can't/ won't test till 7 months then maybe they can wait just a few more, and test at delivery.
Hope everything goes well.

I know exactly what your going threw!!!! I normally can't sleep that well myself, either bad dream's or I just can't get comfy or just not tired. I started putting myself on a schedule and it seemed to help, I will make sure that I am up no later than 9am, once I got used to that I started sleeping better at night, I have avoided long nap's during the day. But I know every woman is different, and thing's vary, I also started drinking "alot" of milk about an 3-4h hour's before bed, it seemed to help me.
As far as the biopsy I had one done last week actually, which has me freaking out "big" time, I am only 16week's and now I have read in several places that tampering with the cervix is not good while pregnant, they clipped stuff and it scared me. Mine was also considered cervical cancer, they called yesterday and said they want to do "another" biopsy at 28week's, I don't think I am going to let them:(.....I know what your going threw and it's so frustrating sometimes but im like you, I "love" my little one. I am already ready to kill anyone that messes with him..Lol...And he aint even here yet..Lol

Are you sure its cancer?
There's no such thing as a small case of cancer
as for leaving it 6 months that is ridiculous, all cancers should be treated as soon as possible to prevent the risk of it spreading and the sooner treated the higher the recovery rate.
Go bck and check with your health care provider and ask them lots of questions and refuse to leave until you have the answers you want and are happy. Wink
