Finally....
Posted: 08-17-04 20:49pm

Hello girls. Well, I got registered for my classes! I start next thursday. Unfortunately it is going to take me three years to do a two year degree because the nursing program has been full since last year. But, oh well. It will all work out just fine. I am really excited but nervous at the same time. I mean, I always have straight a's, but I absolutely hate the classroom setting. My darn anxiety is so bad that I clam up as soon as I sit down. And then when the dang professors call on me even if I know the answer by heart I forget as soon as they call on me. I hate it.
But anyway, wish me luck! I have been on zoloft for four years and I am in the process of going off of it, so hopefully my anxiety doesn't get really bad. It shouldn't, but who knows.

Ohh congrats. I hate being in class too, that is why I like schools that offer online classes. I am the type of prson to go to class, and leave school asap. I never stayed and hung arounf like almost everyone else. But I did always stop to get something to eat. I am going to miss going on campus to class, I always saw something intresting. But goos luck. How long will the nurse practitioner program be, that you are going into after you graduate?
I know most are 1 to 2 years down here, but i've been hering about these accelerated programs that are 3 or 4 months long. I am going to look for a really short one. I want to learn as much as possible, but I need to be free for my baby.

I am trying to find pics of me. See, I hate cameras (majorly) and haven't let anyone take my picture since I was in my sister's wedding two years ago. So, I am waiting for her to give me copies and I will post as soon as I get them.

I am not sure how long the nurse practioner program is here because to be honest I haven't gotten that far yet Embarassed it took so much for me to get this far. But I do know a girl who got a degree, it is not called a nurse practioner but it is almost the same exact thing (i will find out what it is) and she was in school for six years. So I am not sure. But it would be awesome if it was only two more. That would be great!
I have one internet class (biology) with lab six days out of the semester. And I have one video tape class (health science) and I just have to go in for midterms and finals. I just hope I can get myself motivated enough to do it. I mean, I am very bad at putting things off and since these two classes are all up to me, I don't know how that will go.Lol hopefully okay.
Thanks girls!

Good luck! You'll do great! Let me know if you need any help or anything...I have taken all that stuff! And about online classes....They drive me nuts because I am such a procrastinator that I dont get things done if I dont have to "go to class". Glad they work for someone though! Angie, where are you in school at? How much more time before you get "into" nursing school?

I am going to a local community college as it is the cheapest and one of the few schools in the area who offer the program.
I won't start the actual nursing program until fall 2005, and that is if I am accepted. (of course to be accepted I just have to have a 2.5gpa and if I can't do that then I have no business in healthcare anyway!)
don't tease lauren, I am take you up on that offer when I get into the nursing part of things!

Haha i'm not teasing...I really will help ya! Its overwhelming and its so nice to have people help ya...I have people I call! Lol I know how frustrating it is trying to get in and all that stuff...It takes awhile! But hang in there and do your best with your pre-reqs and you'll do great. Its a lot of hard work for a couple of years but it will pay off....Well at least thats what they say! Good luck with classes....I start back thursday!

A gps is a grade point average. And a 2.5 is a a nuetral c. And angie you're right, anyone who can't get a 2.5 ingeneral courses should be nowhere near needles, drugs, and people. My nursing school requiers, the same 2.5 gpa, but then again it is different. They require a 2.0 is all general course (like algebra, and english, and a 2.5 in all general related courses (like biology and psycology). But over all the gpa has to be a 2.5. Taking online courses is hard, but I like them better than regular classes. I can get to them when I get ready. But when I start working I will make out a schedule, so I will have time for each class, everyday.

I think it may be the same here. I think certain pre-req's like biology have to be a 2.5 or higher (and rightfully so, it actually scares me that the gpa is so low!) and the general studies need to be a 2.0. I am pretty sure that is the same here.
Yeah, I think I will like the internet course and the telecourse, but I just have to make sure to discipline myself!~ Wink

Yeah, our nursing gpa was made up of 13 classes. And you had to have a 2.5 on those. And then the rest you just had to make a c. Some of those classes are hard though....Microbiology...Pathophysiology. I'm glad those are over!
