I am looking for any exercise(s) that will possibly reduce the size of the stomach apron I have. Ten years ago I gave birth to a ten pound 23 1/2 inch baby boy. I am only 5'1 and I weighed 200 pounds when I gave birth. My stomach got really streached out. You may be asking yourself why I have waited ten years. Mostly laziness. And I was a smoker up until recently. But the main reason is that I have iddm. I have battled with this disease since I was 18 years old. My weight has really fluctuated due to the many different medications I have been on to regulate my diabetes. Some of the side effects of certain insulins is weight gain. I have gained 30 pounds in two months before! I now take four shots a day and i've been seeing a nutritionist. She has put me on 1500 to 1800 calories per day and 50 carbs per meal. I know it sounds crazy but I finally feel better. I am feeling better every day. I currently weigh 170 pounds. That's down from 180! I need to start off exercising slow. I am currently walking one to two miles per day. I am obviously not a vain person. But the chronic back pain I am suffering from has got to go! I know that the extra weight I am carrying in my front is causing the back pain. I want to lose the weight naturally so if any one can help I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
deanne

Continue walking. The main idea of weight loss is to have more calorie output then input. Continue on your diet, it looks like its working. I would look into lifting a little weights now. This means light. Maybe 2-3 times a week to a small light, easy full body routine. Go slow and make sure you have learned the proper techniques before doing it. Make sure its easy and nothing is hurting. Just light easy excercise. If you want a little routine ask.
Congrats on losing some weight. Just continue what your doing and look into a little workout routine.

I said it before and i'm a gonna say it again...Definetly I think swimming is the absolute best excercise- your working all your body muscles at once- and also for your back pain getting in a pool and doing some light swimming, would be excellent cardio, and also easy on your back...Once you've lost a little more weight i'd also decreaase your calories as you lose, but never go below 1200...And occasionally eat a little bit higher cals on some off days, around 1800-2000 just to trick your metabolism so it doesn't become accustomed to eating however many calories a day, therefore you would be more consistently losing your weight

Apron Tummy !
Hi there.
Amazingly, I've acquired an apron that wasn't there
when I was even heavier.
For the last 16 years, I've increased an average
overweight of about 40 pounds. Always active, I hurt
my knees in the fund raisers and even
with weight loss, my tummy is loosely drooping.

I heard that it could be bacterial, and that scares
me. Other than a mostly healthy diet,
I've been drinking red wine for the last several
years since husband's heart attack and want to know if that
can be a contributor to this strange attachment.

Also, it looks and feels like atrophy and since I was always
in shape before this and excercised passionately,
I know the difference. Rolling Eyes

Thanks for anything new on this besides calorie intake.
