I'm new to this so bare with me...

I'm 19 years old, engaged, and have recently become sexually active. My boyfriend and I are extremely careful about everything, but this month, on the last day of my period (7 days into it) something was off. Once we realized this, we checked the condom by filling it up with water, even squeezing it and nothing came out even with the added pressure...Just in case I also washed up there with soap and water... I had totally not thought about it until a few days later when I began vomitting and I have been for about a week (probably just my nerves) anyway, I know this is getting long and rambly, and I know i'm paranoid and crazy, but is there even the slightest of slight chance that I could be pregnant? He did cum, so how can you tell when a condom does break? Does a strong base like soap kill sperm? If anyone has any idea at all, please please please respond, I would very much appreciate it!!!!!

Hello! Congratulations on being engaged! But I think you should be fine. Take a test when your next period is late. Thats the way to know. I remember I thought I was pregnant and I was feeling sick, taking naps, I was tired, having cramps, my breasts hurt!!! And then my period came! I think once we get that thought of pregnancy our minds make us believe we are. And we notice all these signs too. But take a test ok? And the way the condom breaks (from what I see) is you squeeze the condom to the bottom and if it did a bubble type will come out (sperm bubble) and thats when you know. My husband did that everytime. If you checked with water and everything you should be fine. Good luck!

Condoms
It's probably a good idea to mention that generally you are not fertile until several days after your period is finished. The period expels out all the endometrial lining in the uterus including any eggs that might not have fertilized during that cycle, I believe. You don't release new eggs until a few days after your period is over. I have never seen anyone get pregnant while on a period. Since you are just now becoming sexually active, it's a good time to get an annual physical done by your gynecologist, and to ask him to educate you further on things like cycles and fertility. Don't hesitate to ask questions ... That's what they are there for! Smile
