I am 37 weeks pregnant and my childs
father has alopecia. He has no hair on
head, eyelashes or anything. His hair
started falling out when he was about 12.
Do you think my child will develope it?
Also could someone tell me what causes it.
Please give me an answer.

Alopecia can be hereditary. My doctor
told me no one really knows the cause, but
I just found out that I have an overactive
thyroid that could be the reason I
developed alopecia areata (patchy hair
loss). I wouldn't worry about your baby
losing hair too much. Just mention the
father's history of hair loss to your
doctor during your next visit. He/she
can give you more info than I can.
