Q: Mri's And X-rays

I just remembered yesterday, that I had an mri and several x-rays on my ankle during my first trimester. And I was wondering if anyone knew what the effects of this on my baby can or will be?

Did the radiologist know you were pregnant at the time? I dont have an answer at the moment, but i'll look it up in my books!

Your not supposed to have x-rays anymore. You should look at Baby center and in the search hit x rays or something, but I do know you shouldnt have any cuz its not good for the baby

Yeah I had a dental xray after conception but before I found out. They used to xray the baby all the time to check up on it like in the 60s. Its not good for the baby, but I don't think 1 on your ankle will be a problem!

Yeah, i'm not worried so much about the x-rays. Mostly about the mri, I cant find anywhere anything about that so I guess i'm gonna have to rely on my doc next week.

By the way, i'm having an ultrasound on the 19th so maybe i'll know the gender. =d I hope so, and i'm praying for a girl.

Ok, heres what I found...The most critical period is from implantation to 6 weeks after conception. Do you remember when you had it? I think in most situations now they put those lead aprons on all girls at least, and that offers protection. Also, mri dont involve radiation and in most cases they arent harmful to pregnant women. I really think you will be fine, but ask your doc if you are worried. He would be able to tell you more. Try not to stress out about it, its not your fault, you didnt know you were pregnant! Wink

Lol - yay for us! Is it just me or does it seem shorter when you think... Only 19 weeks or whatever instead of 4 months. 4 months seems like forever!
