What is the outcome, does it ever fail
thanks,

Yes They Can Fail
Is this procedure really appropriate??

I went to google.Com & searched under cervical rhizotomy & got alot of sites & yes this procedure can fail & from what I read I did wonder if this procedure was really what you needed - I suggest you google & check out the sites that come up for yourself.

In the same boat
Hi... I am going through the exact same thing. I was all set to have the Rhizotomy, but then I've been reading posts on the failure rate and the pain. I am nervous now and reconsidering this. I would also look online for support groups and find out as much as possible. Good luck!

Cervical Rhizotomy
Well I know that it is rather late in the game for this post, but I just had a cervical rhiztomy and I am post procedure by 10 days and am in the worst pain possible. I do not think I would ever do it again

My experience... 2 months after
I too had the procedure - I'm almost at the 2 month post surgery time frame - and while I have read many fabulous outcomes in my pre and post surgery research... I seem to have fallen into the worse after category. I'm definitely in more pain than prior to surgery... and now I have piercing shooting pains in the back of my neck and head. The sensation in the areas that were burned are extremely weird based on the different types of touch... for instance, if I very lightly touch the area... it hurts like an open burn being touched... if I tap it, it feels numb... and if I press it hurts like a bad bruise. I feel like I don't have the neck strength I had before - and I can't make it through a day yet without having to ice and take pain meds.

I know for myself - this is not something I would do again - but having said that... if I hadn't... I would have always wanted to know if I would have been one of the lucky ones this could have helped. Yes my pain is worse now... and for how long I do not yet know. But if it had helped - how fabulous that would have been.

The decision is individual... Google rhizotomy as well as rhizotomy failure.... you'll come up with different results giving you different information.

Good luck
