Hi everyone! Hopefully someone can help. Most of u know, but for the new ones, I have a 3 week old son (3 weeks tomorrow) garret and im 18* anyhow, he wont sleep in his crib, so ive been trying his bassinet..He did sleep in it one nite, and he will sleep in it sometimes if I put him in there during the day for a little bit.. But he wont at all at night.. He wakes up and screams if hes in there.. So he sleeps on me..And now hes getting so bad about this, he hates to even be set down.. He wants to be held no matter what and he wont stop crying if u put him down, but the moment u pick him up he stops.. I dont know what to do! I start work in 3 weeks, I have to be able to get ready and such so he would have to be set down and he will have to be set down sometimes at daycare too of course. I tried to just let him cry a few, but he cries harder and harder and will not stop. Also, hes very very gasy and now all the sudden when hes eating he will cry too because of I believe painful gas and he will fart while hes eating alot too.. (sounds funny) I mean hes always gassy but I wonder why its so much worse when hes eating. I have the airvent bottles that are supposed to help (their called Dr.Brown bottles) anyhow, any input would be appreciated! Thank you so much, sorry so long!

You have got to let him cry. Every time you pick him up to pacify him you're just making the problem worse. It will go farther and farther. And it will be harder the later you wait.

All I can say is during the day when you aren't exhausted, rock him to sleep, and put him in his crib. Do it again and again and again and again. Eventually he will be too tired to cry. Make sure you don't hold him too long when you rock him though. It's best to put them down when they are just barely awake, instead of asleep. I know it doesn't always wor that way, but try to when the oppurtunity arises. I went through it too and believe me it is no fun. Just try not to hold him so much. Try sitting him in a bouncy seat and let him watch you get ready and stuff. Or tape and interesting picture to the ceiling above his crib. Or an interesting mobile. I don't know but josh loves to look at the ceiling vents and he will smile and talk to them so maybe you could try that? Lol! Good luck!

Yep, let him cry, ive started doin this to jaydyn b/c she was/is the same way, but she sleeps in her crib~
jaydyn is soo gassy too, most babies are

but I was told crying helps their lungs to mature and stuff too and they need to cry sometimes...I had to let jaydyn cry herself to sleep a couople of tiems b/c u just cant hold em 24/7..They get sore too, from holding too much...

Yeah you have to let him cry for two reason. The first is becuase, if you pick him up every time he cries he'll get used to that, and when he is older he'll expect everything when he cries for it. And the second is that he can't sleep with you. I know a lot of peopl co sleep, but it is not good for the baby. Just the other day they had a show on cable access, that had like 12 mothers and some father, who infants had dies because of it. I don't have children, but I know about crying ones. Let him cry and cry, he will cry harder but as long as nothing is wrong, just leave him alone. He'll wind up cying himself out, and fall asleep. All babies do it, and I still do it, like when I cried because a dog got shot on tv the other day, I started thinking about my dog a people and I just cried harder and harder, until I fell asleep. And my doc says that advent bottles are good, they are supposed to be like the breast (the ones that are soft inside), and because it doesn't hold air, there is less gas.
