Hi, really sorry to hear about all the pain you are having. There's an easy solution, no drugs, no side effects, just a little bit of pain to start with (but you've got your pain already, so you won't even notice that one) and in a few minutes all the pain will be gone.
Please try my favourite Acupressure mat (or Tibetan Applicator) - cheap but extremely effective.
By the way Schwarzenegger’s mother and many other millions forgot of their pains with this device.
All the best.

Decompression Therapy
Any MDs or Orthpedics out that who can confirm whether this treatment really works for bulging dics and stenosis? At $100 a treatment, I need to find out more. Thanks.

Decompression
This is not traction. It is a machine that you are placed in to decompress the spine (cervical and lumbar). Supposedly it will prevent someone from needing surgery. From the research I did on the internet is works for bulging disks, stenosis and some other issues that I do not recall at the moment. Google "spinal decompression" and you will find a lot of info on it. You can also check out a company call SpineMed, apparently they are the leader in the industry and have the best machine. Apparently there are some knock offs and doctors are using them claiming it is decompression when it is really just traction and then charging the fee for decompression. The Dr. in San Francisco that warned me about this recommended that I find a doctor that has the Spine Med equipment. Only one Dr. in Las Vegas, Nevada has it. You may have better luck in your area.

Maybe he's wondering if it's live chat. It isn't...it's a forum chat, but either way, everyone just tries to help each other out the best they can Smile

There are many of these types of devices no matter how fancy the tables look, or how many flashing lights are on the console, they are still just traction, i have seen many of these over the years, they all claim they have some new or unique feature that gives them some type of special healing power.

Decompression
That is unfortunate. I will continue to research this. My best bet is to ask a doctor that is not using the machine, ie an orthopedic. If the dr. has the machine, they are going to upsell it. If I find out anything worthwhile, I will post it. Thanks.

Hello Frankie,

I do not know of a back pain chat room, though most likely there are some.

I'm with Mominashoe regarding "what is this?" - This Back Pain Forum is just that, a forum. A place where people can communicate in writing regarding their concerns experiences and thoughts, and often, in some detail.

A chat room, often called a "live chat room" is where people can communicate much as one would communicate in talking with others. A rapid back and forth form of communication.

Well, that at least is how I view the too forms of communication.

Hello Sonia,

For me at least, exercise does help my back.

HOWEVER, Sonia, it should be done under the advice and guidance of a spinal specialist (neurologist/spinal surgeon).

I get very concerned about yoga, because some of the exercises may/can make things much worse.

Proceed with proper medical advice.

Number 1 rule - if the exercise hurts - STOP doing it!!!

Sick of pain-pills
ive been on pain management for about two years. I get morphene and hydrocodone pescribed. Im no walking zombie and live a pretty normal life. Happy marriage and a little precious girl. I had a head fracture several years ago hence the back problems. Now though im starting to worry about long term health effects as i do drink. Not loads but about on average two glases of red wine pd. Lately also ive noticed that when i do not take anything to sleep which i dont normally do i get these leg-spasms. Its like a jerking, as if falling whilst dreaming and it keeps me awake most of the night. Its been going on for about 3 weeks. I would really appreciate someones opinion, my hubby whom i love very much just thinks im a pill-popper so no answers from him. Feel so lonely about this. I dont want to end up a life-long pill-junky

Bubblycat, do you take enough Magnesium? Muscle spasms/cramps may also be from not enough Magnesium, & if you take a lot of pills the body needs more Magnesium to detox. So Google up for food with a lot of Mg, or consider a supplement-? lots of Mg is in leafy green vegetables, for example...

Are you doing any core-strengthening exercises? This might help with back problems too...

Sonia_X,
My parents both have had back problems, & back/core-strengthening exercises & walks & changed (healthier) nutrition DID help!! (Plus, Mom lost some weight & 'cellulite' & as a result they both looked better!!) They still do them, every day!!

I know that the exercises & walks have helped me BIG TIME too, & I am still doing them but am currently also still researching which ones would be best for me...
Yoga has helped me in the past, but it'd also be good to know which specific exercises are best, if the problems are more than just small...
When I had more backache, I sometimes couldn't sleep because of pain, IF I DIDN'T GO FOR A WALK THAT DAY!! So, Yeah, it's important!!
