So I recently received my first package of triquilar birth control pills, and was waitng for my next period to begin to take them. I'm about one week late (which isn't really anything out of the ordinary). I woke up in the middle of the night two nights ago and thought, for whatever reason, that my period had started, so I put a tampon in and took my first pill at nine am...However, when I took my tampon out I realized I hadn't started my period at all. Is the fact I started my pill pack early going to really mess up this month's cycle?

Edited to add:
when is it likely i'll get my next period? I've had protected sex with condoms in the last month, so I suppose there is an unlikely chance of pregnancy. Should I take a test or wait until my pills sort out my period?

Thanks

Chances are, this cycle you'll have some breakthrough bleeding because the hormones will mess up your cycle, they usually do in the first cycle anyway. But i'd say once you get your period (on the sugar pills) and start the next cycle, everything would be back to normal.
