Hi Sue
I'm sorry to hear about that.

Oddly enough, that was part of the reason I was in the hospital. I don't think I have told everyone why I was in the hospital, but if I have, please forgive me for double posting.

On monday afternoon(two weeks ago tomorrow), I began throwing up and having diarrhea. At first it was nothing out of the ordinary. I did this all the time. However, after the tenth visit to the restroom; well you get the idea. All in all, I threw up between 25-30 times. After this much stress on my body, I blacked out. Tipped right over...My husband and an oncall doctor insisted that I go to the closest er. I did. Unfortuntely, I was so sick that I started having lupus symptoms too. I went stiff, was running a low grade fever, and the pain was at least an 8 out of a 10.

I went back (and was actually apologized for being made to wait) and within 2 mimutes (no kidding here) they had pulsed me with steroids and a much relaxing pain killer.

Then, they sent me upstairs because the admitted me. I had test after test after test.

Eventually, it was determined that I had ulcers and gastritis. It was assumed that I had the ulcer from long term steroid usage, but luckily the doctor went ahead and did some biopsies.

Friday afternoon, I was informed that I had an infection of the h.Pylori bacteria (the most common type of bacteria that causes ulcers). So they started me on this high dose antibiotics...And will repeat the procedure in six weeks.

They also told me that this constant running to the bathroom (everytime I would eat, I would have to go to the bathroom within minutes and it was always diarrhea) was probably because of the ulcers and gastritis.

So that is my story...Thanks for reading! Wink

H Pylori
Hi ladybrannon,

i have had the h pylori virus. It is normal to be on such high doses of antibiotics. They usually do the trick. You will probably find that most of your symptoms ie. Vomiting and diah.. Will go away. There is nothing better than having your first day without having to run to the bathroom. My doctor also put me on prevacid to control the acid reflux symptoms. I hope you feel better soon.

Keep smiling,
jenn

H Pylori Bacteria
Hi ladybrannon and jenn, I am now on biaxin and prilosec for my h pylori bacteria. I went in for a colonoscopy and upper evaluation. They found 2 polyps and are performing a biopsy on them. Along with the antibiotics I was put on metronidazole 500mg. This medication caused me to become very ill with dry heaves. Because of the bacteria I wasn't eating much and what I did eat went right through me. I'm now off the metronidozole and hope to be feeling better soon. It seems not a month goes by before some new ailment arises. I'm glad to hear you both are doing well. :d

Diarrhea
Hi , I for got to mention that last night I had another bad bout of diarrehia and major cramping and some nausea also! I think it was my own fault though. I had a glass of ice cream with milk . I was a *pig* and ate the whole thing! In about 20 min. Or so I was doubled over and running to the bathroom!
I felt so....Stupid!! I know better than to eat stuff like that!
I guess I deserved what I got! I won't be doing that again.
I have a Question for you all. I get a growling in my throat and chest area, i've always had it and get teased about it from a friend when it gets kinda loud. Embarassed I have no idea when it will happen, it is doing it as I speak! My doctor ask me yesterday if I was still taking my previcid. It sounds like when your stomach growls, but it is in my throat.
Anyone else have this?

Sharon...Yes, I do. Mine, however, is from high dose steroids causing problems in my espohagus. Are you on steroids? They can really effect your upper digestive system...As I have learned recently! Lol!

amoxicillin and biaxin, along with prevacid, taken 2x/day, are given for ulcers which are caused by c. Pylori. I believe these medications are taken for about 3 to 4 weeks. Hope this information helps
