Q: Hernia Recovery

Can anyone help me with the do's and don'ts of recovering from a hernia? I live in poland and the doctors here weren't very specific. I had a small umbillical hernia and I would like to know, for example, how long should I wait before lifting, swimming, having sex etc. Cheers
