I recently had an ultrasound which showed an inflamed and mildly fatty liver. I am very thin, don't eat fat, don't drink and am very physically fit. Anyone heard of someone developing nash who doesn't have any of the risk factors??

Fatty Liver
I was diagnosed early fatty liver as well. I didn't drink but i'm a bit over weight. I discovered having a lot of pain over the right upper abdomen. Dr thinks is gastro problems. I've a gastro first appointment at 2 weeks time. What are your dr suggested? Any treatment was given or wait and see?

I have yet to read a case of a fatty liver condition in a fit person. Normally, this afflicts overweights, diabetics and those who drink alcohol regularly.

Best thing to do is lose weight, exercise and change one's lifestlye. Drink more pure and fresh fruit juices, low carb and non-starchy veggies and avoid fatty foods and dairy. I posted this home remedy that worked for my mom's friend (my mom as just diagnosed yesterday of having a fatty liver too, hence my researching frenzy) just a few minutes ago on a different thread. Let me repost:

drink pure and freshly squeezed lemon juice every single day. My mom's friend adds maple syrup to it to make it more edible. Also, one must consume about 2 gallons of water each day. Back to the basic and healthy living. :)

btw, mind sharing how big the disparity is of a normal liver to that of yours? My mom was told normal size should be around 10 to 35, hers is 109. :(

good luck!

Fatty Liver
Have ya'll been tested for hepc? I've had all of that hep c to cirrious now maybe liver cancer. My last ultra sound showed spots on liver. Have your dr check you for hep c and make sure they are not just doing a liver function test. These are two different test.

As for the lady with the lemon juice cure. You can tell she has never had liver problems because lemon juice kills me, right in the liver

Fatty Liver
I can't stand pure lemon juice. I think I have gastric problem as well. I was put thro the blood test for liver function. Only the bicarbonate is a bit low and alp is a bit high. Cancer antigen is in normal range.

My cardio said once my anemia corrected, fatty liver can be reversed. I don't know is true or not but it is a hope, isn't it? I have a ct abdomen last week but result not in my hand yet. Dr said is fine, most dr think if not a life threatening then would concern "fine".

sorry to hear about you possibly having liver cancer. For the record, fatty liver is not indicative of hepatitis. Hepatitis c is caused by a virus and causes inflammation/fibrosis in the liver, while fatty liver is caused by accumulation of fat in the cells of the liver which may or may not cause inflammation/fibrosis, but is often caused from being overweight or diabetic. One would not generally expect someone to have hepatitis c because they have a fatty liver, although having both hepatitis c and fat accumulation in the liver is certainly not a good combination to have.

fatty liver
I was diagnosed with mildly fatty liver. I am having some weird belly-aches at times, and can get tired and fatigued if I overwork myself. I do have some extra pounds, and I used to drink a lot in my twenties. But if many things in the American diet are processed food someone might be fatty liver some eating "normal food"?

No Hep A,B,C for me. Iron and other tests are good.
Why is it that doctors usually only what to take a GB out and not try to relive it or promote a better lifestyle or balance nutrition?

fatty liver
well my daughter was dignosed 4 years ago with a fatty liver but continued to have problems and took her to my doctor and not ped doctor he then sent her to a specialist .. her liver test showed her counts to be in the 100 range or so... so they did a liver biopsy and told me the fatty liver had caused her to have fibrious and just yesterday we learned that it has not turned into cirrious and it has only been 2 years she is just 15 years old,.... she not over weight they say ... now her liver function test so her liver counts in the 600 and 800 range... so now they are saying she also have other problems and running more test to find out what the other problems are........ and no she dont got hep c or anything
