Its trichomoniasis..Hard to detect in a culture becasue it is a parasite. Very hard to culture in males because it dies in 6 hours in the urine. A cytology urine sample might pick up 50% of the time. These doctors usually call it a undetectable uti... It's not.... It is trichomoniasis in a male... It also means your girlfriend has it. If she has pain during sex it is usually a sign. A pap smear will not pick it up 50% of the time.... The only drug that will kill it is flagyl.. You might have it bad. Go on it for 10 days three times a day and you'll see a difference. Your girlfriend will have to be treated also or she will reinfect you. The ping pong effect. Don't drink and don't have sex until the symtoms are gone. Remember a culture will not pick it up in a male.. I went through the same thing you did. They kept telling me it was untectable. It might be in your stomach also. Flagyl is used to kill trichomoniasis in stomach ulcers not only in the urinary tract. It is the only drug that works because" trich" is a parasite not a bacteria. Thats why it is hard to culture. You can't grow it in a gram stain.

thanx for the reply, I guess that I can quit worrying so much . I will talk to my urologist when I see him next week and get some flagyl. Im glad that someone was able to help, up to this point I felt like I was the only person in the world who had this problem. Lots of worrying and stress . I will let you know the results ...Cheers

Let me know what is going on..I am going to take flagyl next week. Keep in mind, there is absolutley no way you could have sex with your girlfriend because you could be sharing the desease. I told this to my girlfriend and she freaked. Even with a condom. Remember, demand that the doctor give you flagyl. The cdc recomends flagyl as a second line of treatment if all else fails. Most of these doctors are not std experts(look it up) cdc.Gov. Flagyl with erithomyacin is recommended for second line of defense to cover trichomoniasis if all fails. This means that your new girlfriend is asymptomatic. Your both sharing it and it is not coming up in her pap smear. I am finding out that tichomoniaisis is impossible to culture in males. No mater what!!!!!!!!!! The testing lab is telling me this. You have the symtoms. Remember no sex even with a condom. Trust me look up trichomoniasis on cdc.Gov and you will see that you had the intitial symptoms. It is getting worse for you. As for me I am in the intitial stages and my girlfriend is in denial because her test were negative. It is very hard to detect tricomoniasis becasue 50% of the test are hard to detect in a male. Remember, no sex until you finish the flagyl and all symptoms dissappear. You are going to honest with your girlfriend. My girlfiend is in denial. I told her no sex three weeks until the treatment is completed. I feel for you; however, I am going through the same thing you are; however, I have a feeling that my girlfriend is reinfecting me even though she and I are testing negative. I am going through the same thing you are. These urologist don't have std experience. That is the problem. A std expert told me this. Rememebr demand flagyl for at least ten days.....You had this for two years. He will give it to you for seven days....Demand at least 10 days three times a day not two times a day...Good luck...I sold antibiotics for sts's to docs for 3 years and most of them don't know.

Hey, i've been battling with this same type of thing only I have clear discharge periodically no other sores or problems and Dr. Tell me i'm nuts. I had epididymitys (swollen left testicle), but since they could find no bacteria they said no std's. I've had all std test except trich. The put me on flagyl, zithromax, etc. Nothing worked. I think it's because my wife has it and she has not been treated with flagyl. I've been told 2g of flagyl one time will work I just tried it and got my wife to do it as well.

Please keep me posted if this solves your problems and I will do the same. I didn't think anyone else had this type of problem and these boards never follow up to tell us if anything fixed the problem.

Well, my wife and I both took 2g zithromax and 2g flagyl and we still have the problem!!! We have now tried everything. Anyone experience this type of problem?

I am having the same problem. It's been over 6 months for me. I have tried going to doctors but they haven't found anything yet. I am currently going to a doctor who works at a std clinic but still no luck... I got an ultrasound of my bladder and kidneys just to make sure that wasn't but the problem but I need to see him about the results next week. I suspected it may be tricomoniasis and have tried the treatment for it, recommended on cdc, that's 2g dose of metronidazole, but it didn't work. I have also tried a 2g dose for up to 4days straight but stil nothing.

Anyway, I am lost myself and it is quiet frustrating. If any of you come up with a solution please let me know.

Hi, I am still having the problem. Now I continually have a dull pain in my left testicle. I have tried antibiotics for a month and it seems fine as long as I am on antibioitics. About 7 - 8 weeks after stopping the antibiotics it comes back slowly and gets worse.

I have seen a million dr's and none of them seem to know what's going on. They say my epdidymis is infected each time, but don't konw what is causing it.

I´ve been to an std doctor and so on and went through a long process and really they didn´t find anything... I also tried the medicine for tric but it didn´t really have an affect...

I got this thing when I was travelling so I am investigating disease that you can get when you travel.

This it what I supsect it could be
schistosomiasis (bilharzia) which can infect the genitals but isn´t spread through sexuallly

I went to see different doctor for schistosomiasis (bilharzia) and he didn't find anything...

But he also suggested the problem may be due to some scaring from the std I had... So that's why I was having problems. He also didn't find anything when he checked for stds.

But he also suggested to me to improve my health and that way my body would fight the problem. He suggested I drink this stuff called noni. It's a fruit and you can mix it with other fruits to drink it. Anyway, I been drinking this stuff and my health has improve and the problem seems to be improving... I'll let you know how it goes.
