My periods have a record of being irregular. I can go for 6 months w/o a period. My periods are never predictable. Never!!! When I was on the shot 2 years ago I was on my period and stayed on for 8 months!!! I was active the whole time..The same day of the shot....After even when I was bleeding.....It didnt stop. I never did figure that out why it was happening. My mom said I wasnt suppose to have sex intill a certain amount of time after the shot and not to have sex on the period anyway becuase it can harm you. After that my period stayed irregular for months..Skipp a few months....Have it..U know.Recently for 3 months or so I have been having my period every 2 weeks. Intll my period skipped two weeks and was late.I just got it on the 17th and ended on the 21st.I dont think im pregnant becuase I took a few test and it was neg.So exactly how does ovulation work? What is it? How can I know im ovulating? How can I know if my period are not regular? Is it something I should be worried about? Should I go see a doctor? What exactly comes with a period..I have so much too learn. Is it going to be hard for me to get pregnant.Pleeze write back...Any advice....

Info
Ovulation is where the egg is released from the ovum and sent down into the fallopian tube. If the egg is fertilized during the fertile days (varies from 10-16 days before your next period) it is burrowed into the uterus lining and begins to form a baby. If the egg is left unfertilized it is broken up into smaller parts and sent to the uterus to be shedded at the beginning of your next cycle, also known as your period.

Fertile days is the time period in which you can get pregnant, it varies anywhere from 10 to 16 days depending on your personal cycle!

Ovualtion
Dear dreamer,

most women get their period every 28 days, this is considered normal although everyone is completely different, weird isn't it. If your period is coming every 2 weeks maybe you should see your doctor, although don't be alarmed this may be regular for you. If it's not your doctor will probably refer you to a gynocologyst to get some hormone treatments to get your body back in sync. Your mum is right, having sex during your period, or while you are bleeding can cause infection, and you can't get pregnant while you are bleeding anyway. It is going to be very hard for you to figure out when you are ovulating if your periods aren't regular, so you need to address this problem first. When you ovulate (or you are most fertile) your body releases an egg to be fertilised by your partner, this only happens once a month, and the egg is only there for 24 hours if that, so you need to be quick. Women usually try to catch the ovualtion period 14 days before their next period is due, there are ovulation kits you can buy to give you more accuracy in predicting your ovulation. You will find them at the supermarket or chemist next to the pregnancy tests. Below I have supplied links to some helpful information, the first is an ovulation calculator but this will probably only be helpful once you know how to predict your next period, at least once you have seen your doctor and are all sorted this should help in the future with trying to get pregnant. The second link explains what ovulation is and why you can only get pregnant on these certain days and not just any time of the month. Good luck and keep in touch.

Actually you have a 10-25% chance of getting pregnant while on your period! I think it is very strange!!
