Q: Friend Had Grand Mal Seizure- Looking For Answers

Hi. My friend (who will remain nameless) had a grand mal seizure yesterday his family is not sure what caused it. This is what I (as an uneducated high school student) think may have contributed:
1)he had a brain tumor when he was born which was removed the next day.
2)his parents got a divorce about a month and a half ago
3)though he is in good health, he does not seem to have a perfectly balanced diet (though he does eat fruit andvegetables everyday)
4)he had been up all night the night before (he and I were over at a friends house)
my question is: does a combination of these seem to make sense or do you have any idea as to what could have caused the seizure?
Note: he has never used any drugs or alcohol and is not overweight.
Thank you very much. He is a good friend of mine and we are all very distraught over his situation.

Friend Had Siezure
Firstly, your friend should be assesed (medically) by a neurologist,to see if there is something causing it . I personally feel that the parents breakup would not cause his seizure,,but may attribute to it as strong emotions can play a part in epilepsy . Getting overly tired consistently and alcohol is also a trigger for turns, but if your friend has gone all his life and not had any sort of seizure before there may be something that caused it , was the tumor removed successfully and completly? Was it a benign or milignant tumor? I feel your best source of answers will come from a specialist who can do the appropriate tests and scans for him/her. It may be necessary to see several doctors before finding the answers.Try and find the name of a respected professional specialist in your area rather than just the local g.P.
Good luck
