I know you're scared,but sometimes, cells are abnormal,but not cancerous.Wait until your results come back from the lab.(easier said than done,i know).If the cells are pre-cancerous,that means you caught it before it turned big and bad.That's a good thing.If there is any treatment to be done,your doctor will tell you.Good for you on having follow-up care,keep up with regular gyn visits.Hope the results come back negative,keep us posted.Patty

Well the doctor said the biopsy results came back and it was moderate displasya. I now have to go in for surgery. I have the option of the leep or the cone biopsy. I also found I have hpv so I might have to deal with this for the rest of my life. Boy this is such great news. I know a lot of women have to go through this but it still doesn't make me feel any better. O_o

Hpv (human papilloma virus) is the major cause of cervical cancer. But if you have the cells removed, you should be fine. You will need to have annual smear tests, just to keep an eye on things, but afaik the hpv does not turn into a permanent problem, like any other wart it goes away. Don't worry, the great thing is that they caught things early and they can treat you. Good luck.

What exactly are the odds for me beating this time around? Also how many of these procedeures do you think are done each day? I just need a lil more peace of mind lol.

Hard to say how many more procedures you'll need,just keep on top of things and see your doc on time.Pre-cancerous lesions can turn nasty if you don't complete your treatment.I know going through this is a scary thing,but caught early,cervical cancer is very treatable.Keep your chin up.Pookie!

But man I am still really weak and didn't start bleeding untill last night. I wish I had never made the mistake that caused this. Hindsight is 20/20 I guess.

I wasn't even going to have the pap test that caught the cells. I am so glad that the doctor did that. I am christian and I tell you, god truely had a hand in it. The cells were severe, I almost had it really bad. The doctor said that he got it all and everything is healed. I shouldn't have to worry much anymore. It is so rare to find good doctors that care about thier patients like he does. I am so relieved and now all I have to worry about is wedding dress alterations, the wedding itself (oct. 16), and cleaning our house. I am so relieved and happy. But tell me, is there any way I can help raise awareness of hpv and the risk of cervical cancer? I want to help others so they won't have to go through this.

I have been reading your messages over the past week or two, I never posted a reply because I have never had any experience of what you've been going through(thank god) but I felt I had to respond now that you have had some good news at last, I am really pleased for you and hope everything goes okay for you in the future

Usually when you have abnormal pap smears it's cause of the hpv virus.

Ive had a couple abnormal paps and they were due to hpv. Prob is that the colosp... Things (i dont' know how to spell it either) costs so much, I won't get it done every time... So I guess, I just hope if my hpv develops thats the time I get it checked out...

It may cost alot but if you get cancer it can cost more for the cure, and possibly cost your life. Doctors should be able to work with thier patients on payment plans. I didn't want the pap that saved my life. I got it and am so glad I did. Good luck to you, I wish you the best.

Im 38 now but when I was 21 I had pre cancerous cells in the second stage I was petrified like you I had a biopsy done then after that I had lazer treatment done to burn the cells, it doesnt hurt just a bit like a smear, I had a smear test done every year for 5 years after that then now its every 3 years I ,ve never had any bother since so try not to worry and hope everything goes well for you like it did for me .
