I just got this last night for the first time since I was 7 years old (now I'm 22).

I'm a part-time graffiti artist and so when I go out I end up dressing really thick to keep the cold out (it's -20 celsius here right now) and I also end up drinking energy drinks... about 1100mg of caffeine a day on very busy days. To top it off, I'm also a recovering Oxycontin addict but I couldn't go through withdrawls because I had work so I switched to a methadone maintenance program. I can only assume that the 55mg of methadone I take daily isn't helping either.

Also, for the last few days I've been under a lot of stress because my job is snow removal and there hasn't been nearly enough snow this winter for me to get out (I went to work ONCE this winter so far and made $50!)

I'm going to have to cut back on the caffeine and switch to guarana (natural caffeine) since I've heard that it'll help, and also I'm going to go out painting less since all the clothes I wear definitely aren't helping.

I thought I was the only one suffering this issue, so it's nice to know that others out there are going through the same thing.

Good luck everyone! I hope you get control of your condition! And thanks SuperBad, I couldn't even put a price on the invaluable help you've given me...

fishy slimey anal discharge, bloating, constipation, cramping
Hey guys damn im glad to know that this is more common and not some horrible life threatening unknown illness. I started having severe anxiety and panic disorder when i was 16. I saw what some of you said in the beginning and i too in school would have this slimy fish smelling discharge leak from my anus throughout the day. Along with extreme bloating and gas cramps. I would be shaking sometimes in tears that the person behind me would smell it and start saying ewwww and point it out to everyone else. I would go to the bathroom twice every class period to try and sit down and go to the bathroom and wipe the discharge. I would always wear cologne and have my backpack droop down below my butt and ALWAYS wear a shirt that went below my butt. I totally feel for you guys that have this problem and the anxiety it causes.Every day getting up going to school for me was a constant battle with these gastrointestinal problems. Most likely for all you guys it is just IBS (irritable bowel syndrome.) I have severe IBS and i am 23 now and have had two colonoscopys, and 3 ER visits from severe colitis which is inflammation of the colon and you can tell you have colitis when it is very very tender to the touch on the lower left side of the abdomen. Guys do not worry from reading this post it seems like there is a lot more of us than we think and out of all your experiences mine is much much worse and i dont have any disease or anything life threatening. To those of you still having this dealing with stress honest to gods truth go see a psychiatrist and get on some Xanax and get your anxiety under control. When i was 17 i became addicted to Xanax because it was a whole new world and it DRAMATICALLY relieved the gas cramps, and the smelly discharge with i would say in most situations is 75% due to stress. But dont undermine it there is a very small chance it could be celiac disease, Trimethylaminuria, irritable bowel disease, or other colon problems. Make an appt. with a gastrointestinologist and have some blood work done. If its not that before a colonoscopy (unless its really REALLY bad and an emergency) try and avoid a colonoscopy they are NOT pleasant, so try and get anxiety under control with Xanax and try Lexapro. Lexapro is actually used by psychiatrist AND gastrointestinologist to treat IBS, anxiety, and depression so its the best of both worlds! Lexapro helped me get off the Xanax which is addictive and supposed to be used short term while waiting for a long term medication like Lexapro to get into your system. It hasnt cured it. I still suffer with constipation, but now i have became a opiate addict to ease the anxiety, depression, and IBS. When im not on drugs my IBS gets so bad it literally destroys and eats my body with frequent bouts of colitis, vomiting from panic attacks, severe constipation, stomach ulcers, SEVERE indigestion and heart burn from too much acid production in the body caused by anxiety. For everyone with similar symptoms try cutting out ALL dairy and switch to soy milk if you have milk in the morning. IBS and extreme anxiety CAN cause temporary lactose intolerance. Anxiety and IBS causes lactose intolerance by destroying stomach lining from stress and other things so your body isnt able to process the lactose and if you drink milk it will cause massive bloating, cramping, panic attacks, and lots of slimy fishy smelling anal discharge. Thats all i have to say sorry for the novel but i hope this helped someone out there who is suffering from similar symptoms and lead them in the right direction to get better. Like i said this has been ongoing since i was 15 and im 23 now and has resulted in my failing out of high school from anxiety and daily battles of just making it with cramping, diarrhea, constipation, and the strain and fear of people around me smelling me or seeing sweat stains or discharge stain on my pants. Please do not blow it off like i did you CAN help this and if its as severe as what im talking about go get the tests done and get on anxiety meds preferably xanax, you will be able to live again. I hope everyone gets over this in their life without drugs like me, but for me drug addiction is bad, but not as bad as life with anxiety, chronic IBS, and stomach ulcers. Feel free to email me

I have had this problem as mentioned and was admitted to the hospital for Diverticulitis. I am a 29 year old hispanic male, and what has been explained to me from the surgeon is that this condition is rare in someone my age, however with the All American Diet and lack of exercise and family genes this problem is coming out more in this country. I had an infection that caused this inflammation, i was treated with antibiotics and pain meds, and had to incorporate a high fiber diet. So i am currently 4 weeks from that hospitalization and have been having this discharge, very slight, more like a moist itchy feeling, and when i wipe myself i notice a gross potent funky smell, along with an itchy anus, i have reported this to the surgeon and have been told possible colon infection yet again. So any smell comes from a bacteria, its best to get scene and get some antibiotics and all should help out.

Anal Discharge - Horrible Fishy Smell
I have been having this same problem for a few years now. It is terrible! It is ruining my life.

I have had 2 blood tests, an upper GI series and a colonoscopy. The blood tests came back normal, the upper GI found I have GERD Acid Reflux Disease and the colonoscopy confirmed that I have an anal fissure. I was told the fissure was from constipation.

2003 was when I first had blood in my stool, I was told it was from the fissure, 2011 the damn thing is still there. The bleeding is occasional, pales in comparison to the awful odor though.

2007 I started having severe abdominal pain, I was told it is probably from the GERD. I still have it, it's an everyday occurrence. Even this pales in comparison to the odor, as painful as it is.

2008 is when the discharge started, over the years it has progressively been getting worse and worse. I was told it was mucus from the fissure, but it's so bad I am finding that hard to believe. I will take a shower, clean the region, and by the time I get out I can already smell the odor.

Needless to say, I never leave the house now, but I need to find employment ASAP (I want to go into the Army, but with the pain and discharge, that ruins it for me).

I don't know what to do, I'm getting pretty desperate...

Another thing (In regards to the dietary posts), I do not drink coffee or soda. I have found that when I consume anything dairy, more severe abdominal pain as well as more discharge happens. However, even after cutting dairy out completely, I still get pretty severe abdominal pain and discharge. This problem is driving me crazy.

i think this is a first stage of a dieses we call pile here in africa. its symtomps are strong poop and sometimeswhen force out poop several times it comes to this stage yoy start feeling this discharge. pile is a sitation where some tissue grows out of thier normal shape blocking the anus and makes the poop so difficult sometimes. it is cause by unhealty dieting and too much of sitting down. if you are a gamer, a computer addict, a driver, a stodent who reads often you can have this problem of difficult pooping. in the process of pushing harder in several occasions you suddenly begin to notice this discharge. for dome people, you will notice this feeling of a tiny something in the anus like poop. it is not actually a poop but a part of the anus or those shaplesgrowout that are blocking your poop and making it difficult. In Nigeria, most times this patients with this early stage of pile her placed on an anti bacterial capsule known as .......... which willbe taken for along time before it stops. sometimes this comes back again after some few months or years. it this pile goes toa higher level it cames the patient uncormfortable and he poops with blood, at this point he requires an operation. this discharge occours as a result of a day of poop push out, it could cause a disorder which leads to this. i am a patient too and my dad used to have a big pharmaceitical chemist so i have seen a lot of patients with this pile issue. i hade the pile too but the first stage of it. then i dont have this discharg not untill a day i had this hard poop push, after then did i beging to experience this discharge. all you need to do is to wear a sure body spray sure for men or women, its a 24 and some 48 hour serious odour body spray. it overcomes this odour no matter how intense your is. my name is Stanley from Nigeria.

This happens because of a Yeast Infection(fishy smell anus), and other types of fungus that you contract somehow...

I know this because I had this same thing happen to me several times. I think the first time I got it was from having sex with no condom while on antibiotics(antibiotics kill healthy bacteria which control fungus)

So I took fluconazole it kills fungus infections. The smell goes away.PERMANENTLY! just becareful to not catch it again. fungus eats sugars hope this helps. drink water,no juice(unless natural)but even then it has sugar no soda, eat lots of garlic that helps also.

Hi;
I know the Dr answered this, but I've gotten the exact same responses from my DRs and they

didn't work. So Here's what I think, and did that worked...

Antibiotics are the cause. After reading everything, all over the place, I got a Bidet` from

BlueBidet So I wouldn't have to be taking butt shower after every poo, took a probiotic, and

stopped eating tomatoes in any form (raw, cooked, sauce, ketchup, soup, juice, anything with

even a hint of tomato in it.) for 3 months. BINGO, no leaky butt. Back to solid poo and no

post leakage, but I still like the Bidet. And I can eat tomatoes again.
Even though antibiotics are 'targeted' they are still a bit indiscriminate when it comes to

the natural bacteria in your intestines and colon.

It seams that the clindamycin kills bacteria that digest the acids and oils in tomatoes.

In short
1. get a bidet so you don't have to shower, the first day or so blast a little water up

there to rinse out.
2. Avoid tomatoes (in any form for a while) for a while
3. Take a Probiotic.

Cheers,
A Former Stinky Butt!

Hi there, I am 36 and have had this problem since I was 16 / 17 although I can pin point mine to an issue that is entirely more embarrassing than all of the posts I have read here. When I say I have had it since I was 16 / 17, it has not been constant and I have always been aware of when it happens to me but too embarrassed to seek help. I do not have a leaky discharge but it is definitely the same fishy smelling, clear discharge as the rest of you are mentioning. My problem is this. When I get with a new girl friend I get aroused sexually and as to be expected in the early days this is mostly left un-dealt with!! As my erection subsides then pow! I have a mini down pour of this Goo from my anus. It is always the same and after recently splitting up with a girl friend of 3 1/2 years. I went out on 2 dates recently and it as happened again for the first time in over 3 years on both occasions. How embarrassing!!

Obviously, my problem is not dietary. Anxiety? Possibly. But until reading these posts I was almost convinced that it was sperm build up or something, finding its way out. Obviously, this is ridiculous, but an honest thought that has been troubling me for some time.

It basically means that if I get turned on by a girl and then left wanting, this is gonna happen!

As the rest of you have said already, this is completely embarrassing and I would greatly appreciate anyones input with regards to my more specific issue.

Thanks
An embarrassed man!

Hang in there man. I am experiencing the same thing except not sexual arousal related. the problem is really acting as a sex deterrent since the last thing I want to do with these symptoms is to be with a woman. Too embarassing for me.

After reading all these posts, I am thankful that I am not the only one with such awful symptoms. I have been diagnosed with an anal fissure and have been trying to manage/cure it for about a year now. Very frustrated and depressed as a result.

Have been through two GI doctors with no results. They act like they don't have a clue. Last one advised me to start folding up a small square of gauze and placing it between my butt cheeks to soak up any discharge....what a pain this is!

The only thing I have yet to try is radically altering my diet. I think it may be time to try this. I need to cut out coffee, milk and sugar substitutes. I use all three daily and feel they may be the biggest culprits.

Has anybody also developed a rash in the buttocks region as a result of all the irritation??? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks and HANG IN THERE

Oily discharge or hyperhidrosis, moisture in the anal region
Absolutely, I developed the rash. Never had any issues at all until about a year ago (I am 60 now). It went away for about 2 months last winter when I was walking everyday and very relaxed. Then it came back when I moved back north this spring. I tried acidophilus pills, yogurt, sauerkraut, pickles, etc. which helped some, but nothing has really worked yet consistently. Will reply back if I figure out a cure for me. Most doctors have no clue.

The smell AND the sweat...
I suffer from this as well, except for me it seems to come in with a lot (and I mean A LOT) of "sweating" type symptoms where it really really soaks my underwear to the point of where I get chafing on my legs. I am trying to find ways of fixing it,but I am just not finding anything is very helpful. Has anyone gone to see a doctor that knows how to even go about bringing it up to them and gotten suggestions on how to fight the smells and the "sweat"? It's getting to the point where I have to go home and change my underwear often so that I don't sweat through and start to wear out my pants/shorts...

Desperate for answers.

I had this problem too. It was caused by internal hemorrhoids (which I wasn't aware of) and food intolerances accompanied by anxiety.

I got rid of it by cutting out all dairy products (have lactose-free milk if you have to), avoid caffeine and avoid spicy food. Drink lots of water and take a SOLUBLE fibre supplement - I used Lepicol which is widely available from health food stores.

If the anal muscles need tightening, do pelvic floor exercises and stop yourself from urinating several times during mid-flow - this tightens up the muscles in that area.

Anxiety is a factor, so tackle whatever is making you anxious, make sure your blood sugar doesn't drop by eating little and often, avoid caffeine at all costs and drink plenty of water - at least 2 litres per day.

Good luck, guys, and believe me this problem can be beaten - I am proof of that.

SMELLY EMBARRASSING CHEESINESS ANAL RESIDUE/PASTE
Same problem...smelly embarrassing anus/rectum. I am a super clean hygienic person, cover it up with body butter/sprays. I have a CHEESINESS (a light paste if you will) residue though, it smells disgusting, sometimes fishy, pungent, but in a gross neanderthalic way, I like it. Sorry for honesty. I have tried doctors on 8 different occasions, General, GI, Colonoscopy, Prescriptions for difucan, anti-fungals, candida treatment, pinworm treatments, topical steroids creams, detox/diets, cleanses, fistula, fissures, STDS, frequent hardcore enemas, veterycin, ALL NEGATIVE/INEFFECTIVE RESULTS, was about to see an anal specialist about this issue, but then my insurance was gone. & If it was rare diabetes, I think I would have other symptoms?
I can't believe it's going on 3 yrs with this issue & still no solution on internet/lack of content. I feel sorry for everyone else with this issue & wish to be confident again... as I am a 32YO gay man & my love life has been troubled for 3 yrs. because of this.I want my ass to be SWEET again.

I recently resolved this exact condition, the small amount of clear leakage from the anus with a fishy odor. I cannot claim this will help everyone, and I am willing to admit my symtoms could have been temporary or transitory in nature. I suffered from this problem for ten days before scouring the internet for potential solutions. After following the below loose guidelines, the symptoms began decreasing after two days and are 95% gone now after seven. I truly hope it helps someone.

Reduced anxiety (I had one issue in my life that I resolved, this is the hardest step, way easier said then done)

Nearly eliminated sugar from diet. Zero soda dessert you name it.

No caffiene

2 liters or more of water per day

Increased fiber (in the form of supplement)

Started a probiotic regimen (both supplements and yogurt)

Ate one clove of raw garlic per day.

My solution
I had this problem. My solution came from Japan, but can be purchased here in the states as well. The Japanese use bidet toilets in their residences. I was a bit hesitant about a stream of water shot at my hole, but I tried it. The first thing I noticed was the feeling of cleanliness that I never achieved by using paper. The second thing was the lack of soreness I would alway get from over wiping. Lastly, and most importantly, the fishy smell was gone.
I also keep the baby wipes in my car, just in case I'm away from my bidet. But these bidets/washlets are portable. I have taken it on vacation with me several times. It was my life saver! I purchased a Brondell Washlet from Brondell. They're an awesome company with a great reputation. Now I have one in every bathroom in the house. Once you get past the chuckling, you will love it. Best wishes! Jay
Ps. The smell does return once in a blue moon...usually when I only use toilet paper for a few days.

I had the same problem but it only lasted for 2-3 weeks while work was very stressful. I am fairly certain that it is linked to stress and hopefully if you manage to reduce the stress in your lives it may go away. Best of luck to everyone, I know how much it must suck to have to deal with this all the time.
On a side note at the same time I ended up with reduced sensitivity in my penis, I'm presuming the two are linked and it has somehow damaged a nerve in this area. If anyone else has noticed this feedback would be appreciated.
