Bleeding from anus
Not all of this can be TMAU, some of this can be from hemmoroids. TMAU is normally full odor, especially the guy bleeding from his anus.

Check out my site somethingsmells.wordpress.com I wrote a free ebook about the problems I use to have and the solution I had to it.

If the TMAU diet helps than go for it, my solution was different though.

Solution:

- garlic:
eat 2 garlic cloves per day outside meals (early in the morning, mid-afternoon or/and before bed time).
Chew a lot to mix with saliva. It might be hot for your tongue and you will feel it go through all your digestive system, but it takes what it takes. It is also important to "wash" your mouth with your saliva before swallowing.
3 days should be enough. One week is unnecessary and you might fragilize your stomach.
why garlic: it restores the bacterial balance of your digestive system.

- vita merfen: (if you notice that your anal region is all red and irritated)
every time after going to the toilets, wash with soft soap and applicate a visible layer of vita merfen.
This is a cream made "for little cutaneous lesions, burns of I and II degree, DISINFECTANT and cicatrizant, bedsore". Google it...
Don't irritate your skin too much by wiping excessively... wash!
Hours after the first application, it might smell weird. But from the second or third application, you will notice that even after hours, if you washed well after going to the toilets, it always smells vitamerfen. No more fish smell nor yellow liquid.
Vita merfen is a little bit oily, but it will leave no trace on your clothes.
Be careful to change of clothes regularly to avoid reinfection!
It should take 3 days for the skin to recover a normal color but I suggest you use the cream for a week. No risks for health anyway.
So: toilets -> don't wipe excessively -> wash with soap -> vitamerfen -> life -> toilets etc.

It works... you're done with the problem within a week

note: the problem has nothing to do with your food regime... a good food regime can seem to "reduce" the problem but as long as the bacterial balance of your digestive system is not restored, you will still face the problem.

I haven't read all of these posts yet, but, I have noticed this today. For the past few days I have been on a detox( lots of water, detox tea and fruit and veg) all of that causes diohrea (getting rid of the toxins!) and it was only whilst wiping I noticed the smell. Is it just my body getting rid of 'sludge' or something else?

I have this problem too. It seemed to get worse after I had hemorrhoids removed in 2006.

I've been to see a doctor - who did a colonoscopy. Nothing found. (I hate doctors. Fool calls me every year for another colonoscopy).

He didn't do any testing of the watery discharge, told me it was probably ibs related. Said there was nothing could be done. NEXT!

I wish I had some idea about why I sometimes get a large amount of watery discharge from my butt! Is this too advanced a question for modern medicine?

To Denver: sounds like you have an anal fissure. It's like a tear on the sphincter muscle of your anus. Sometimes you get bright red blood when you wipe, and the smell is from some discharge that these things let out. These can be treated but are a pain in the ass. I have a chronic one and the smell is really embarasing, and in my case I think is leading to slight fecal incontinence. Try devrom capsules if you have a smell, this will help, and as for the fissure, the thing to do is help it heal; take warm "sitz" baths, change your diet and take metamusil for the fiber that will soften your stools.

Also I've noticed the weird smell (not the fecal one), get's stronger when I sweat and my ass is irritated. anybody know a good cream for this? I wish there were some kind of antibacterial product I could apply to the fissure, to kill whatever is making the smell in the discharge, please let me know if anyone knows of one.

Parasites
Sounds like the by-product of an intestinal parasite. All the other recommendations given will not work. Just use an over the counter medication such as Zentel for the full dosage.

(referring to the first conversation between Dave, beatmeoutofme, and superbad)
Hi there I''m 18 and having quite similar issues. I was wondering if there was a test I could have at the doctors to see if this is my problem, and if so could I find out exactly what foods don''t agree with my system.

I was also wondering if smoking marijuana a lot could possibly cause this, because my friend said that her friend had a similar problem and she said it was cause he smoked weed to much.

Thanks everyone who throws me some answers(mostly wanting answers from superbad though, but all are very welcome)

It could be caused by smoking marijuana if when you smoke marijuana you are anxious. Its about anxiety. I have heard that some dogs have the same problem when faced with anxious situations. I think its mostly a hormonal thing though as it has passed as I have gotten older.(lasted 17-18ish) Not too long actually. Just don't eat too much dairy and you should be fine.

Also follow the advice about diet as much as you can. Take lots of showers and you will be fine...also remember not to get paranoid about it all. People aren't going to notice. Thats also why weeds not to good... you will get paranoid people can smell you, then get anxious about it and then have the problem. DONT use baby powder or any kind of powder. Its not healthy. Just be clean and you'll be fine. Maybe those baby wipes haha.

Also there is a test I believe. Ask your doctor and do a google on testing for it...but remember when talking to doctors to be careful how you explain things or they won''t take anything you say seriously.

on a side note I don't think weed causes health problems. Abusing weed might and probably will. So just do it in moderation. Learning to do things in moderation is the key to a happy life. Seriously Wink

Definitely go to your local Doctor to have it checked out as it could be a number of things. I have recently come down with the same problem and am trying a number of steps to counter it. I also went to my local doctor today and she thinks it's probably anal fissure possibly accompanied by an infection of some kind. It can be very awkward actually going to the doctor about as it was hard to me to discuss even with my family (only one person knows about it) but i'm feeling very relieved that i'm on the way to finding out what the problem is. With regards to helpful remedies I suggest increasing your fiber intake and drinking a lot more water to help cleanse your system. Taking sitz baths is also very effective in cleansing the area and helping any fissures or hemorrhoids to heal. Also try not to wipe the area too much as this can cause further irritation. There seem to be a lot of people with this problem so most doctors will have dealt with it and be able to help you.

I have had the same problem. On another forum the consensus was a yeast infection (yes, men get them too) in the perenial area or a fungal infection.

Remdies were- Diet as described above, cut back on coffee, bread, dairy, cheese, refined surgars. Drink lots of water.

Over the counter meds if it is fungal/yeast infection are: Nodoro, Ketoconazole cream 2%, Nystatin cream, and take a bath in epson salt.

I just researched today and will try the above. But I think this all makes perfect sense. I don't recall having the issue when I was eating healthy and in shape.
Hope this was helpful!

Also- Cut back on alcohol! I drink regularly and imagine beer is a good probable contributor if it is fungal/yeast infection.

I suggest that you be checked for a bowel yeast infection. Its possible that since women wipe backwards on the toilet that you may have wiped yeast toward your rectum. Sounds gross, but just trying to help.

I faced the same problem for years. It is caused because of alteration of good and bad bacteria in the intestine region. When some kind of bad bacteria is more it causes the fishy smell. My gastroentroligist prescribed me probiotics.
Have curd and buttermilk more bcz they have beneficiary bacteria. No I am free from bad odour.

Best of luck for all.

Also keep a check at anxiety levels as it is the major cause.

Why would this start now?
I am an 18 year old female, and I suddenly got this problem today (oily anal discharge that smells strongly of fish), and it has never happened before. However, no other part of me seems to smell of fish, so I don't believe it is Trimethylaminuria.

The odd thing is that I have not changed anything recently at all. Still eating the same dorm food, still taking the same fish oil-omega 3 fatty acid supplements (which I'm suspicious of, simply for the "fish" element--could that be the cause?), still pretty anxiety free.

Why would this happen now, if it hadn't before and nothing has changed?

Does anyone know which of the suggested causes (trimethylaminuria, yeast infection, hemorrhoids, anxiety, intestinal parasite, anal fissure, anal cancer, bacterial imbalance) starts as suddenly as my symptoms have?
