Q: Baby Moving

Okay some call it quickening or fluttering at first, but what I really want to know is how early do you feel it. A little while ago I felt a thump, I said to my self "was that the baby", and then I just dismissed it. The when I was sitting here I felt five little thumps in a row. Could this be my baby moving I am only 12 weeks?

Yeah possible, but not likely. Especially for a first time mother. The earliest most people feel it is 16 weeks and most first time mothers have to wait longer than that! I'm at 18 weeks and i've only felt it one time, about a week ago.

I didn't feel my son kick until 18 weeks and I felt my daughter at 15 weeks. Actually before then! And i've heard of other people feeling it that early, but I don't think it is that common.

Hey I dont think its really possible, it was probably something else, because you dont feel actual thumps til later on. Probably at 18-19 weeks. From 16-17 you feel more of a fluttering in your stomach. Then you can really notice them later when they get harder and more frequent.

Actually yes it is very possible it was your baby. I felt something exactly like that when I was 12 weeks, it was a thump, and then after I stoped thinking about it, it happened again and they were like 5 little thumps. Im 23 weeks and I still feel those thumps just a lot harder! Smile

Okay well, I have heard thet many new mothers mistake gas or the digestive system rumbling, but believe me when my foof is settling and when I have gas I know. So I know what I felt was the baby, and esp. Where I felt. Maybe it's a mother's intuition, but I just know.

I dunno, 12 weeks is really early yet... Your baby is just coming out of the lima bean stage yet... 14 weeks is even early to feel movement. In what to expect when your expecting it says for the fourth month "fetal movement near the end of the month(but usually only this early on if you are very slender or if this is not your first pregnancy)." ... You are just in the beginning of your 3rd month. I thought I felt the baby moving on earlier too, and I thought I was so for sure because I just felt like it was a "mother's intuition", but then later on, when I felt the actual movement, I knew for sure it was the baby, and I realized what I had been feeling before was something else. It might be possible that you are further along though... Have you had an u/s yet? If you havent, then tell your doctor you think you might be feeling the baby move, and you want to know if its possible you could be further along. But I really very highly doubt that it was your baby.

Yeah same here too. Its real early. I thought I felt movement too but youll really know when your further along. It really could have been gas since youll get alot, I mean alot more gas being pregnant. Or it could have been a twitch. Like your eye twitches or other parts of your body, I get that too. You never know
