Crying or Very sad my mother had a hysterectomy sept 9. Last week she started losing fluid from her stitches (blood, puss, etc). She went to the doctor and was told that it was okay. But I do not know if I trust that. It has been almost 3 weeks and this fluid is still leaking. Has anyone experienced this before? I am really uneasy about this situation.

Extremely eHealthy
Go again and tell them you are concerned! And have them explain it to you!

I had a hysterectomy in 1993 and about a week or so after surgery developed oozing of my incision (pinkish/yellow discharge). I thought my incision had come undone, but come to find out it was a staff infection and I had to be put on antibiotics and hot compresses had to be put on my stomach 2 or 3 times a day for a week. Check the area around the incision and where discharge is coming from. If the area feels very warm or is hard to the touch, get to the doctor and have them check for infection.

Incision Discharge after hysterectomy
I had a hysterectomy jan 24, 09. after my two week check up i noticed my incision was "leaking" it was only a small section. i immedieatly called my dr who had me come in the same day and i was told that a portion of my incision had come "apart" she told me it was normal and packed it. she checked on it every 48 hours. i went on monday, wed, and fri and on friday it was still open so she put two more stitches in. it will be a week tomorrow that she put the stitches in but it is still draining, just a lil and it is bothersome. i just want it to go away, so my healing process can be done with. the rest of my incision is doing great, but just that one part. i keep a small gauze on it everyday, but i do notice everyday, it gets lighter and hopefully it was go away. hope this helps someone! God Bless u all!!!!! Smile
