Q: Possible Period Problem, Looking For Advice.

I only thought of looking for this answer online today which was quite a revelation, im glad I found somewhere like this, it will be really helpful.

I am searching for this answer on behalf of my girlfriend, the anomity of the internet is appriciated. Basically she is to shy to go and see a doctor, which I can understand in one sense and not in another....I guess im just trying to find out whether I should be worried and try and convince her to see a doctor.

We have been sexually active for about 2yrs....She being 19 me 21. Loyal to only each other as partners (in case relevant) with no history of std's. I have been away for about a month so no sexual activity for her .

The problem or question is about excessive discharge. Normally just before (roughly the week leading up to) her period she gets slight clear/pasty discharge which I understand is normal (please verify). During the last 1-1.5 weeks, her period is coming up again. She has been having a worring amount of (from what she described) the same kind of discharge...But she feels like something is "coming out" this has happened twice in the last 2weeks-ish and she goes to the toilet and I guess the only way to describe it is a big gob or lump comes out which seems to be part of the discharge and is quite painful to expell. This happend once randomly and the 2nd time was triggered by a aerobics class. Because of the pain (when passing the lumps/gobs) and excessive discharge (she is havingto wear a pad to deal with it) she worried....But very sensitive and is pretty adamant about not seeing a doctor.

I guess im lookinf for a that is unusual, convince her to see a doctor. Or don't worry about it, it's normal.....Possibly caused by this or that or it's just different for each women.

Thankyou very much for your time.

It truly is different not only for each woman but also for any woman at different times for soooooooo many reasons (food, virus, flu, overwork, stress, anything - including factors we don't even know about - if that makes any sense) so it may or may not be something to worry about.

If it continues she will need to see a Dr. Or if further symptoms develop, or if it stops when her period comes but resumes at the same time next month.

Sorry to be so vague but part of the problem is that if she is this determined not to see a dr (which seems to me as if she's scared of soemthing/someone?? - even if the fear is just in her mind) then maybe there are also other symptoms that she hsan't told you.

If that happened to me, I think I would go to the doctor... It sounds a little unusual to me but, of course every woman is different Smile

The heavy discharge could be bacterial vaginosis or a yeast infection. However, with a yeast infection it should be itchy also. Both are very, very common and can be treated easily.
However, the globs that come out with pain are not normal at all. Maybe it is something that is normal for her body as we are all different, but I have never heard of such a thing. And since it is accompanied with pain I think she should see a doc. Maybe find her a female doctor to go to so that she feels more comfortable. No one wants to talk about these things, but sometimes you just need to.
