Q: Ortho Tri-cyclen Lo Questions...

Hey i've been on ortho tri-cyclen lo for about a month and a half, but I still have questions about it.

I know the first 21 pills are called "active" pills and the last 7 are "reminder" pills.

I read that the reminder pills (the last 7 in the pack and are green) are just inert ingredients and are only there so you get in the habit of taking ur pills.

I used the "sunday start" when I started taking my pills.

Does anyone know if there is a specific pill color where you will get ur period on?

I heard its usually the dark blue ones and u'll end when u start the green ones. Anyone have any ideas?????

I've had irregular bleeding when I started the pills last month. My period came a week early and lasted 14 days, but the dr said it was normal. I'm just curious as to when I can expect my period again and I want to prevent any messy accidents!

I'm not sure the colors of ortho-tricyclin lo.. I was on the regular ortho pills. However, the last 7 pills in the pack (which were green in the regular pack) are placebos... Meaning they are sugar pills. I never took them, I always was good about remembering when to start the next pack. Your period will eventually regulate out and will start in the first couple of days in which you are on the placebos pills (mine always started at the end of the day after the 3rd pill for instance) and may continue into the beginning of the next pack depending on how long you have your period. I always got mine 7 days so it would go into the new pack.

You should get it on the reminder pills. Some people get it a couple of days after taking their first reminder pill.

My period usually starts right before I take the 3rd inactive (green) pill. Most women get them soon after they start taking the inactive ones.

Ortho Lo
I've been taking it since march and my cramps and severity of my periods have decreased a lot. I usually start my period on the third or fourth day of the inactive pills. The bad/good part is that my periods seem to be so light now that if I wear a regular tampon is is too dry and causes friction when removing, but i'm afraid if I use a light that I will end up bleeding heavy and spotting my clothes.

Anyone else experience this effect of ortho lo on your periods? Also I usually "bleed" or spot for about 4 days total.

Since being on it, my period hasn't gotten any lighter, but it has gotten a lot shorter... If that makes sense.

Lol, now it only lasts for 4 days (used to be 7)

You should start your period on the green "inactive" pills. I usually start mine on the 4th inactive pill but there have been times that I have not started until the 5th inactive pill. I think it's different for everyone Smile

Yes, I also think it is different for everyone, but you should not get it until you are on the green pills. Getting it before when you are still on active pills is kind of strange.
