Appendictus And Swollen Ovaries Posted: 07-22-04 02:47am
For about a little more than 24 hours now,
my lower right abdomin has been at a
discomfort. I was and am afraid it is
appendicitus, especially since i've had a
fear of getting it since I was about six
years old. This is not why I feel the
pain. The pain isn't severe or even
moderate, it's more of a discomfort. I
told my family-type doctor about my pain,
and he said I shouldn't worry right now,
it might be a symptom from my period,
which is supposed to come any day now.
Then he mentioned maybe it was an ovary
swelling...
Does anyone have any idea what I might
have? And, what is an ovary swelling?
I'm very worried and i'd like some insight
for this because it's driving me crazy.
Thank you.

It it was appendicitus then you would be
in a lot more pain that just some
discomfort. Keep an eye on it though to
make sure it doesn't become a severe pain
(in which case you would want to go
straight back to the doc). If your
period is about to come up, then it could
very well be that. Are you taking any
meds? One time I had pain in the area
and realized it was from some meds I was
taking because as soon as I went off of
them it stopped.

I thought the same this, I am taking
tetracycline, it's an oral acne
medication. I've quickly gone off it for
about 2 days, and normally I would take 4
pills a day. Do you know if this is a
sign of being pregnant because...I had
protected sex but I still feel like I
might be pregnant. The condom didn't
break, I think I might just be paranoid...

I agree with wakkochic, you'd be in a great
deal of pain if it were your appendix. If
you've gone to the doc and he says
everything is fine, wait and see if things
settle down.If they don't,you might want
another opinion.Hope you feel better
soon!Patty

Is this a sign of pregnancy? Or anything
else for that matter? I'm getting a bit
paranoid...

Usually that's one of the first things
they check when a woman comes in with
abdominal pain.I'm assuming your doctor
asked you when your last period was.If the
doc thought that there was a chance of you
being pregnant I would think that further
tests would have been done to determine
that.(i hope you were honest with your doc
if that question was asked!!??)you sound
really stressed out by the possiblity of
being pregnant, you need a more reliable
birth control method. For the sake of your
sanity ,if nothing else!!Feel better
soon!Patty

There could be a chance that you are
pregnant, as, antibiotics does effect the
b/c situation.
Good luck!
Sincerely,
sandy

I was honest with my doctor, I just talked
to him over the phone and he said
something about a swollen ovary but
nothing about being pregnant. I still
have the abdominal pain but I took a home
pregnancy test and it came out negative.
Abstinence is looking good right now.

If you are still in discomfort on monday
morning, give your doc a call and schedule
an appointment. If nothing else,he can tell
you for sure everything is fine.Don't feel
like you're wasting his time, after all he
will charge you for the visit.Go in for
your own peace of mind, just to be
sure!Good luck!Patty

Oh,dearheart,calm down.If you are
pregnant, the baby is not even the size of
a pea yet!Any weight gain this early is
because of too much eating, not a
developing baby. You really need to calm
down or you'll give yourself a nervous
breakdown. If you are pregnant, deal with it
when you know for sure, you can "what if"
yourself right into sickness!See your
doctor asap, for the sake of your
sanity.Have your doc check you from head
to toe.I really do hope the doctor can put
your mind at ease.Best wishes,patty

I actually lost about 5 pounds about a
week ago, and I haven't gained it back,
which is weird, so this might be good. I
would go see a doctor but I don't think
anyone really understands howscared I
am... I couldn't even visit my dad in
the hospital when he was sick. I did
take a pregnancy test and it was negative
so I feel a little better and I know my
period was supposed to come somewhere
between the 22nd and the 24th...I think.
My abdomin has gotten better and I barely
feel the pain now unless I look for it.
I feel like I am going to get my period
soon but I have these like manic moments
where I think i'm pregnant and doomed and
then I calm down and think i'm an fool.
By the way, thank you for your help, I
appreciate it.
