A biopsy for lupus was done on my arm today. I have chronic severe hives Rolling Eyes (burning, stinging & itching). Rolling Eyes will get results early next week.

I have needles & pins on my back, sides, upper arms and front of shoulders. Does anyone here have the needles & pins? Question my doctors just shrug when I ask about it. I can't find info on it anywhere.

Pins And Needles
Hi liza,

i get those pins and needles sensations. I have not been diagnosed with lupus, though I have lupus symptoms. The key tests for lupus have come back normal. So, I don't know what I have. The pins and needles sensations I get are probably neurological in nature. I have had spots found on my brain mri. Those can be seen in a variety of disease, including lupus (when it affects the central nervous system--vasculitis). So, you should ask your doctors about doing an mri of your brain and spinal cord, especially if your symptoms increase or begin to include weakness or numbness.

Good luck!

thanks for your reply. This is so weird! It is much worse when I have severe hives, and mostly disappears when the hives improve. I suspect the hives are damaging the nerve endings just under the skin - but what do I know? I'm no doctor. Good luck to you, and if I don't get a diagnosis and help, i'll suggest the mri.

Pins And Needles
I have the pin and needles sensation on my legs often when taking a shower. It is so irritating. But that is the only time that I notice them. I don't know if it is from the heat or what. Does anyone know?
