Q: I Can Still Eat Alot of Food At One Time...anyone Else??

Sad Sad I had gastric bypass however, I can eat alot of food at one time.
For example: I can eat a triple meat hamburger, large fries, and two apple pies, with no problems.
I can also eat any food what so ever. Including raw sugar, with no dumping symptoms or anything else.
I'm really dissappointed that I spent $42,000.00, on a bypass, and I can eat just about like I did before the surgery.

Has anyone else experienced this??? Does anyone have any advise??

Gastic Bypass
Hi, I did not have a gastric bypass, but I had laparospic banding in july, at the start I lost 32 pounds, but now I find I can eat almost anything and my weight is slowiy creeping up again. I do not know what the answer is for you, but you did not mention when you had the procedure done? Was it recent? And have you spoken to your doctor lately?
With my surgery, I can go and get a fill, which is where they put some fluid into the band to make your stomach pouch smaller, it makes you feel full quicker.
Why did you opt for bypass rather than banding?

Still Able to Eat Alot
Smile hi, I am 2 years after my gastric bypass and in great health and I can't eat hardly much at all.I am able to force down maybe 1/2 of a burger(single meat) no fries and not even anything to drink. My bypass surgery or should I say journey has not given me any complications whatsoever, and I went from a whopping 302 lbs. On 7/24/01 to my current weight of 150. I feel great and folks say I look great, so maybe you might want to talk with your Dr.. About this and find out if something was not done properly. I also paid lots for my surgery and feel very fortunate as I have heard so many horror stories form people who have had it done, not followed instructions, changed their lifestyles or eating habits and they gain their weight back or never lose the sufficient amount to keep from having health problems again. If you are serious about losing weight, talk to your doc, something doesn't sound right. Good luck on your journey.

Re: I Can Still Eat Alot of Food At One Time...anyone Else??
Listen...When you have a gastric bypas it is only to jump start your weight loss, it is not an overnight miracle. I had the surgery in 31 march 03. I have had so many complications since then. I now have to have another surgery to correct the complications. Yes I have lost wieght but it is only because I have stuck to the diet. Why are you even trying to eat that much at once anyway??? After going through all that you put yourself right back in the spot you were in before. I also do no think you understand that this surgery is not all about the procedure. Your success depends on you and your will power to control how much you eat!!! You make me sick, taking for granted what I almost did not have...Life itself.

Regarding My Mother's Surgery
My mother is now a week our of her surgery and has lost 15 lbs. She stuck to the diet for the most part but still has the appetite she had before. But, when she tries to eat what she wants she becomes very ill. It is working for her, the hard part now is just sticking to what her doctor tells her and waiting for the results.

Hi calikty01
i read your message about your mother and I hope she is feeling better, but I have some questions. You said "she had her surgery a week ago and she stuck to the diet for the most part"? Why has she not stuck with the diet for the weeks that are needed to make the transition positive. I had my surgery dec. 1st 2003 I am still on the plan, but I have to admit I think about the foods I would like to eat and will! But only a couple tablespoons at a time when i'am done with the restrictions. Tell your mom to get back on the ball so all that pain wasn't for nothing.

Im on my second gastro second ones call revision, if a person sticks to the diet and ONLY ests a few Tablespoons of food at a time an does not stretch the pouch back out again one should be fine, the only reason for my revisons is I had holes in my stomach. People can not eat a whole burger or a full serving of anything when it is done corretly. I were you I would go and see what your doctor says sounds like you blew your pouch out
