About 3 months ago I was diagnosed with a yeast infection and then a bacterial infection. Since then the bacterial infection has not gone away completely it keeps coming back. I've switched birth control pills I was on ortho tri cyclen lo but it was causing vaginal tears because there was not enough estrogen in it I have been on ovcon which has a higher estrogen level I am on my 2nd pack however the infection will not stay away just when I think it is gone it comes back. Thanks to this website i've learned that bc pills could cause that in some women. If I decide to go off the pill to see if that is the cause how long is it going to take to go away and how many prescriptions of antibiotics should I expect to take. This has been driving me nuts and even depressing me, thankfully I have a boyfriend who has stood by me even though weeks of no sex, but it is killing me not knowing what is going on with my body. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Extremely eHealthy
Bv
I kmow what you're going through.I went through a period of 6 months of alternating with yeast/bv.Clear one up and get the other.I finally went on a yeast free diet and took diflucan(anti-yeast medication)for 2 weeks. That cleared up the candidiasis. One more course of flagyl and I was much better. My doc did not recommend going off pill at that time, but I did switch pills.I have to be very careful whenever I am on antibiotics.I almost always get bv after taking them.No one can tell me why i'm so susceptable.I know that bv is very frustrating, not to mention painful!I wish I could be of more help.Hope you find relief soon!!Patty

I had constant yeast infections for months (almost a year) while on bc pills.. Although I never had bv. The doc had me on anti-fungal meds for several months in a row, including diflucan, and it wouldn't go away. The only thing that got rid of it was to go off the pill and go on the depo provera shot. The difference is there is no estrogen in the shot. My doc said some women can react to the estrogen by getting chronic yeast infections and such. I have been on the shot for 7 months now and haven't had an infection since.

I just started Trivora 2 months ago and I have gotten a yeast infection like clockwork each month a week before my period. WHY???? This is so annoying and irritating. I just want to have a healthy vagina that is not always "under Monistat construction"!!!! Help???? Any suggestions?

Ortho Lo, BV, and Yeast Infections
After reading so many women's stories about this, it makes me feel relieved that I am not alone. I was on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo for about a year and a half and I just finally stopped taking this poison!

First, I am a migraine sufferer (since I was 10) and at first I didn't notice a difference in the frequency of my migraines until August when I started getting a migraine every week or every other week. Good news is that I haven't gotten a migraine at all this month being off of it!!!

Then there's the yeast infections...I have never had any problems before the pill. Then I discovered that I had a yeast infection that took a while to get rid of. Now I have BV, which my doctor thinks is probably due to the fact that my hormones (and PH) are all out of whack, but thankfully no yeast. I will have to stock up on probiotics so that it doesn't come back after the BV treatment. I just can't wait to finally feel like myself again!!!!

While being on the pill is convenient for sex and you can plan vacations so nicely around your period, the risks in my opinion totally outweigh the benefits. I will never go back on the pill.

Luckily I have a great boyfriend who is being very supportive with me through all my lady troubles. After talking with a few of my friends, we've discovered that many women are silently going through this ordeal.

You are not alone and if you are questioning, "hmmm, could it be the pill", you know your body best and you're probably right.

Birthcontrol and yeast/bv infections
Well i know it has been a while before anyone posted to this but i thought id join in and say i have the exact same problems. While i was on the pill for 3 yrs i just started getting yeast infections and BV about a year ago like crazy. I just stopped taking my BC about 2-3 weeks ago and i think i may still have a bit of a yeast infection because of the "stuff" you see coming out. I do have to say though that a BV infection is sooo much worse and hurts like no other when you try to have sex while you have it. Kinda feels like there is a big "spikey" ball in there rubbing you. I'm very discriptive when it comes to how things feel thats why my doctor loves me lol...they like you to be that way it really helps to diagnose things "Just so you know" Smile
