Q: Ear Problem

I recently aquired fluid retention in my left ear (for the first time ever) and have been experiencing severe vertigo. I went to a doctor whom prescribed me a decongestant. It's been three days and my symptoms are still very present. I am unable to function normally (walk, do dishes, drive). Just wondering how long this will last and if I should go to a specialist? Or how do I know if this is something more than just fluid retention? I feel like I should be getting better, not worse.
Any advice is welcomed.
Thanks!

I would say that your symptoms should already be improving. I would give the doctor a call back and let them know. They usually do decongestants as a first line of figuring out what the problem is. You may have a block in your sinuses that aren't letting your ear drain.

Ear Clog
Thanks for the reply! I called my dr and he suggested that I get some over the counter nausea reliever (alvbert???) and to call him if my symptoms don't go away within the next few days.

Ear Problem
Ok, for the vertigo, anti-motion sickness tabs to help you temporarily. Then heat compress to the ear to drain it. You have to be diligent about applying heat; it does work.
