I think part of the problem is the stigma associated with epilepsy. Many celebrities use their visibility to attract attention to and raise money for cancer, aids, etc research. Yet few even admit to having epilepsy for fear that it will hurt their careers. (this is not just true for celebrities.) before we can raise money, we need to be able to speak openly about epilepsy. I wish I had a quick and easy solution to this important problem. I try to at least educate the people in my world as much as I can (by making them aware of my situation, not hiding anything, and sharing facts about the condition). In addition, i'm studying biomedical engineering so that I can do epilepsy research in the future. I believe i'm doing my (small) part, but I admit that doesn't raise money. We all need to work together for that... Any ideas?

The epilepsy association of dayton, oh, just held it's annual mud volleyball tournament. They charge $250.00 for each team to enter. It has become huge! I have never participated, yet caught a quick glimpse this year by chance. I read in the dayton daily news that they raise a huge amt. Of money (can't remember how much).
